Not Too Much To Say Today, But Some Thoughts

Weird, right?

I usually want to talk about anything and everything, but not today.

Made it on the treadmill before 5:30 am today. This was my view.

Yep, back on to Parenthood. The only TV I watch during the day is while I’m on the treadmill. If I was cool and had a little more money, I’d get a DVR in there and tape shows that are currently on. Maybe some day.

6 easy miles at about an 8:30 pace. I finished with plenty of time to get they boys’ Valentines ready for school while we packed lunches and ate breakfast.

Winking smile

A couple of things to share today:

I’ve been out of kabocha for like 4 days. Today I turned to roasting spaghetti squash with cinnamon and pumpkin pie spice on it.

I forgot how great it is topped with some nut butter and such.

As a new member of the Rock ’n’ Blog Ambassador team I was featured on the Rock ‘n’ Roll website here.

Kind of fun.

(Code MAMAROCKS gets $10 off the Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon and 1/2 in case you want to come run in some beautiful CA weather.)

Egg Whites International posted this on their Facebook page earlier today.

I think that a lot. Everyone is different, but for me running a marathon is hard. Sometimes though it’s harder to be mindful about taking care of your body the REST of the day. It’s so easy to be tempted to throw in the towel isn’t it?

I’ve been trying to figure out just what I want for this year when it comes to racing and such. I have quite a few races on the calendar already and am on the fence with possibly trying to tackle something longer than a marathon distance.

But, I think for right now I kind of just want to scale back a bit, rest more and have a clearer schedule. You know, I’m really good at having a jam packed schedule and such, but not that great at just slowing down (obviously). I really wish I was.

I also really like the idea of less pressure, more time.

Random, but I was talking to a good friend yesterday who asked me if I made more money doing what I’m doing now (blogging, racing, teaching fitness classes and being mama) than I made when I was a PE teacher full-time.

I laughed. Um, no.

that’s not why I do this. I do this so I can be home and be Mommy, not so I can make more money. It kind of put things in perspective for me a bit.

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow. Andrew and I have the same conversation every year. It goes a little something like this:

“We’re not doing anything for each other for Valentine’s Day are we?”

“Good. Let’s just have a nice dinner or date night instead.”

Oh and the best card I saw last night at Target was this one.

Hilarious, right?

The boys’ faces make it just that much better too. Ha ha.

Oh ,and I’m working on prizes from the STUFT 60 Challenge. Post coming soon with the winners and such. It’s a bigger job than I thought. LOL.

What are you plans for Valentine’s Day?

Favorite Valentine’s candy?

We totally don’t do anything for Valentines either. I don’t really like the idea to do flowers on one specific day to be mandatory either…takes the surprise out of it.

You know, you don’t live too far from me. You can join me in doing some half-ironmans 😉 70.3 miles is quite fun if you ask me!

I’m not a big fan of these holidays that have been all squished out of recognition from what they should be, by commercialism. So, no, we won’t be having any big Valentine’s stuff here. Give me Christmas any day! 😀
    Your roasted squash looks delish!

Oooh how cool that you get to be a blog ambassador for the RNR series! The first half marathon I ran was an RNR half (in San Jose) and I’ve been running it ever since (ran my 5th one last year!).

Our plans look a lot like yours. My birthday is the day after, so we usually try to make that more of a big deal! =) Which I definitely don’t mind. I mean, we might go to Target and get candy but that’s about it!

So funny about the Valentine’s Day thing – yesterday I asked Chris if he had bought me a card because I hadn’t gotten one for him and was content to just let it go. I would rather get a “love” card from him on some random day because he wanted to not cause society dictated!!
Gotta say – having a DVR on the TV by my treadmill is awesome – I can watch things like The Bachelor and Dance Moms totally guilt free!!

Very well said about the “love” card! haha! Of course, it doesn’t hurt to express affection on that day, but randomness is always the best.

And I truly admire your dedication to fitness, Kristin! And I definitely think it’s harder to eat well 100% of the time than exercise hard everyday. That’s why I love the approach of a rough balance and moderation with everything. 😀

We are on a tight budget so we will go out to dinner Saturday night and we are making homemade cards for each other 🙂 I think it’s fun!!

A friend of mine gave her hubby a post-it note on his phone in the morning… read……(I know b/c he posted it on Facebook…about the best wife ever…)

“No Crap Needed” I just want to hang out with you tonight for Valentine’s Day…..Love you!

Ah, why does that just make me smile?! I couldn’t agree with her more. That’s what we will be doing tonight.

We weren’t supposed to buy each other anything but I woke up to a giant red bull and a bag of twizzlers on the kitchen island! Nothing planned for tonight but tomorrow we are going to eat at Olive Garden and shop for a new treadmill WITHOUT the kids! WHOOOOO HOOOOO!

Not too much to say here either except I can’t wait for my treat cookies this weekend! 🙂 You are to cute!
