Ghost Grinder, Artichokes and Those Moments

So, the boys keep asking if you all have read their recap of the race with Papap. They’re pretty proud of their racing and writing skills. Ha.

I hopped on the treadmill early this morning. For some reason everyone wanted to be up early today. Gotta love those mornings, right?

The run felt really good for some reason. I started out at an 8:20 pace, but then picked it up twice towards the second half (8 minutes followed by 3 minutes recovery and then for 9 minutes followed be easy jog until the end).

I felt a little pressure since this guy was hanging out on the mill.

Left quite a bit of sweat on there.

It was the perfect start to the day.

Yesterday we went to Trader Joe’s. Don’t mind the outfit, we were still partially in our race gear.

I spotted this.

I remember they had this last year, but ran out before I could get my hands on any. Not this year. I bought five of these little Smoked Ghost Chilies grinders.

Oh heck yes.

I’ve already been putting it on just about everything. Last night it went on roasted brussel sprouts and a few other things.

Oh and those Sangria artichokes, well, I made them last night for dinner too. I followed the directions for a change.

When I steamed them though I put garlic and sea salt in the water. It made them so darn good.

I also made this buffalo burger recipe from Food.com. Well, I just put the patties together with the ingredients and then had Andrew grill them. They were awesome.

So I just have to share a couple of moments that went down today.

Mondays are hectic, but we have a little time in the afternoon before I leave to go to teach.

Today the boys and I took full advantage of our little time to have a picnic on their fort.

Leftover buffalo burgers with spicy roasted jicama chips and guacamole.

It was so fun to just hang out. Sometimes I need to just remind myself to slow down and take advantage little chunks of time like that to just be in the moment.

I taught some classes at the gym tonight. My last one was done at 7:30 pm. It was a darn long day and I’m always a bit of a mess at the end of my marathon Mondays.

2014-02-17 19.23.19

“Wait. What just happened? Is class over?”

Ha ha.

Since we were down to our last roll of toilet paper at home, I thought I’d make a quick stop.

Wait.

2014-02-17 20.02.44

How in the heck did that happen? Oops.

Yeah, that moment when you realize you have no business shopping when you’re tired and hungry and have been craving kabocha for like a week.

Oh well.

Smile

Now we’re all stocked up on TP and kabocha.

And, this moment didn’t happen today, but ones like it happen often. One of my most favorite things to do is watch the boys and Andrew when they’re outside working (or playing or whatever).

It makes me feel like the luckiest person in the world. I love it.

And that moment when you decide enough is enough for the night and it’s time to go to bed, well, that’s happening right about now.

Good night!

Hope you had a wonderful day or if you’re reading this tomorrow, I hope your Tuesday is fabulous.

Have you tried that Smoked Ghost Chilies grinder from Trader Joe’s? I actually like a lot of their other grinders too now that I think about it.

What’s one of your favorite moments you’ve had recently?

Loved the race recap – great job to your boys and Papap, your family is so cute! Btw, I love your race shorts, what brand/style are they?

Smoked Ghost Chilies….I could not go there my friend…I would be in the bathroom for hours or doubled over in pain….I can only imagine how silly hot they may be. (I do find the grinder appealing though ;-)

We don’t have a trader joes up here sad! They look delicious though! Sounds like you had a pretty awesome day – I always love when your posts begin with Bart :)

Funny, I just read Sara’s comment and was going to say the same thing – we don’t have a Trader Joes. My oldest son would be all over the ghost grinder!!!

Ha…you make me feel better about my kabocha hoarding habit…seriously I can’t go to the local farmer’s market lately because I get compulsive and paranoid that they won’t be there the next time.

I thought of you when I saw that pepper at TJ’s the other day actually. I didn’t get it but I do like their 21 seasoning salute or whatever it’s called. Need to try the grinders since I sprinkle cayenne on everything.

Yeah…I love those “moments” especially when you just randomly meet a really nice person in an unexpected location (: Thanks for the reminder!

TJ’s also has really good frozen artichoke hearts and pre-grilled asparagus for those need something quick days…the asparagus is really good!

I like spicy things (and am addicted to cholula and sriracha), but ghost chilies? That sounds painful!

I work with two year olds and really enjoy the moments we have from time to time where all ten of them are playing peacefully – they’re few and far between!

I LOVE the fort time with the boys – don’t we really have to tell ourselves more often to just slow down – so important!
