Can’t Get It Out of My Head- Running, Racing and Discounts

Yes, still that song, but that’s not what I’m talking about t the moment. Ha ha.

This morning I was more of a mess than usual when trying to get out the door. I thought I had plenty of time to get the boys to school and then head to teach my spin class.

Well, obviously both boys had to have “emergencies” right as we got to the car. Needless to say, we left the house about 10 minutes later than we should have. Poor planning on my part to not leave that extra 10 minute window of time. I learn by my mistakes daily.

Today I had the chance to run outside since the boys were in school for the morning.

I wasn’t particularly feeling it, but plan on only doing a few really short runs the next few days before the ASICS LA Marathon this weekend.

I haven been able to get my head in the game this week, but I’m okay with that. I’m a life racer, not a competitive one. Hoping to just stay healthy and keep running and racing without any injuries.

My run today was slow. It was tough, but I kept telling myself that it should be tough sometimes. If it wasn’t everyone WOULD run all the time, right?

It wouldn’t be a “what if?” like the huge Mizuno #IfEverybodyRan campaign.

So I ran, not caring about my time or pace and just thought about all the fun findings I posted about earlier.

The hills weren’t fun, but the weather was nice.

Somewhere around mile seven I started to enjoy it. I smiled. I thought about all the good that can come from running.

It wasn’t the best run, but it was a run and it felt really great when I was done. It always feels good when you tell yourself you’re going to do something and then you do it, right?

I’ll spare you my sweaty selfie. You’re welcome.

Then I got home and saw this video.

Um, hello inspiration. YES, YOU MUST WATCH THIS NOW!

I also saw this one that made me laugh a bit.

Then I went on a race sign up binge.

I’ve had some upcoming races in the works, but hadn’t officially signed up.

Well, after getting all inspired I took care of that business.

I also finally updated my race page. I think I need to add our family races in there though too.

I’m really pumped about this one. I’ve heard a lot of great things about ZOOMA races. Not only is it in Napa, but there are some pretty cool things going on at this race. Check them out.

-A Signature Swag bags include a pair of Feetures! running socks, a running hat, women’s fit tech shirt and reusable bag.

-Half marathon finishers medals feature a detachable charm.

-The night before the race there is a "mocktail" party at the host hotel  for runners to get together, celebrate their accomplishment and chat with other runners about their upcoming race.

-The finish line parties boast recovery yoga, a foam rolling area, wine, massages, shopping, live music and more.

And well heck, I’ll leave you with one more little bit of motivation courtesy of Runner’s World.

No one can take your experiences away from you. Whether it’s your first mile or 100th. Whether you walk or run. It’s YOUR accomplishment.

I still have to tell you about our fun night we had last night. Here’s a little preview.

So fun.

Oh and Lent starts today. Are you doing anything for the next 40 days? Are you giving anything up?

I’m not giving anything up, but I am working on ADDING more family time, quiet time and reading.

Actually I haven’t posted any food pictures on here the past two days. Maybe I should give that up. Kidding kidding.

Have a great night!

Has anyone done a ZOOMA race?

Ohhh that’s EXACTLY how I felt during my run yesterday at the park! And I’m nowhere near your level and capacity of running, but I felt great that I at least did it. The whole time I felt like I had led feet and couldn’t get my side cramps to stop, hah! But you’re right~when you determine yourself to do something and you at least do it, that’s commitment!

As a Baptist we typically do not observe Lent. However we should always sacrifice in the name of our Holy Father. This season I am doing a “social media detox” no facebook, Instagram, snapchat or groupme. In turn I will call/email/text a friend everyday and continue to focus on Him. Best wishes with Lent! You can do it! Time is love- right?!?

Great race line up! I may be coming out your way soon for one (depending on how quickly I recover)! Do you think you will come back to Runner’s World this year or is that too far out to decide quite yet?

AH! You are making me seriously consider San Diego … I’ve been looking for another marathon after my recent semi-flop. My sister-in-law lives there … and it’s gorgeous … ?!??

I was a Zooma Challenge athlete last year for my first half marathon. Which I finished! Such an amazing group of women who run that. Thanks to them I am running my third half marathon for a Charity in a couple months. :)
