Tax Break, a Fancy Dinner, Breakfasts and Optimism

Well hello.

I’m taking a break really quick from my mess of taxes I’m buried under to check in and tell you the winner of the Love Grown Foods Power O’s giveaway.

The randomly chosen (by random.org) winner is

#64 Tracy.

Woot! Email me your mailing address and I’ll forward it along to the LOVE folks. Congrats!

Just a reminder too, there’s still a few more hours to enter the Tommie Copper giveaway HERE.

Let’s see. I did an easy eight miles on the treadmill yesterday afternoon. More so just to take a break from taxes and get moving a bit than anything else. I did want to get a few miles in though so today could be a complete rest day.

Followed the miles with just a little resistance and core work. Like my set up with my Xfinity Band?

I did some lat pulls and rows with the band and then some squats and lunges with the medicine ball.

Then I finished with some push ups and planks. You all are in on the FitFluential April Abs Challenge, right?

Totally okay to be jealous of my helper by the way.

No workout today. I should have been racing, but life had some different plans for me I guess.

One of them being a rest day.

Another one of them being taxes, which really bite the big one by the way. I was NOT being kind to myself by letting my stacks of build up for an entire year. It’s been a bit of a rough weekend and it’s not even close to being over and I’m not even close to being able to see the floor. Lovely. Ha.

Friday night we tried out a new cheap wine I found at Costco.

I love red blends and sometimes you have to try a new wine based on the name. “Hot to Trot”, you just can’t pass that up.

It was good. It went really well with baked salmon

and Frieda’s sangria artichokes (I just steamed them in garlic water).

All fancy on the couch with a little Modern Family

and followed by dessert. Friday nights are pretty much always dessert nights.

Mmmm hmm….

I don’t know about you other long distance runners out there, but I’m always so darn hungry the day after a long run.

Yesterday morning I had to go for a big egg white scramble with chicken apple sausage and spinach, strawberries and some sandwiched made in the sandwich maker (one whole grain and one with that paleo bread).

This morning I went with the oldie, but goodies STUFT egg-rito with spinach, but wrapped it in a Julian Bakery paleo wrap.

I found these paleo wraps at our local market. I have to say, I’m pretty impressed. Not the cheapest thing, but they’re good.

Okay, that’s enough chit chat. Back to business for the rest of the afternoon.

We had a great mommy and sons morning so it’s a business kind of an afternoon.

Yep, these guys were pretty happy that I didn’t go on a little trip to race today.

We had a little fun adventure earlier. Can’t wait to tell you about it.

Hope you’re having a fabulous weekend!

And for the rest of the day, the focus is on optimism with this little situation I’ve got going on over here.

And….

you’re welcome.

Do you ever buy wine just because of the name?

What was your favorite breakfast from the weekend?

Have you done your taxes?

Anyone want to help me set up Quickbooks? I’m kind of serious. I really need to get out of the whole doing everything on paper thing and could use some help. He he.

Weekend breakfasts are always pancakes or waffles!
I just ordered those Paleo wraps from Vitacost and can’t wait to try them!
I also made some Sangria Artichokes this weekend, but I ended up not steaming them enough, but most of it was edible anyway :P

I rarely buy wine, but when I do, I go off the name/label. I buy buy other things based on the name too (especially beer and ice cream).

I had leftover Chinese food for breakfast on Saturday, and eggs, sausages, and hashbrowns this morning. I think both are winners.

My taxes are remarkably simple, so I did them back in February…or possibly January.

I made some good egg white protein oatmeal with some nutzo I got because of a blog post you made a few days ago about their $5 deal!! Also, what is that yummy creation you made! Looks like ice cream, ice cream cones, nutzo, maybe a quest bar?!

Thankfully Chris does our taxes – I do the bills and all during the year but he takes care of that part. He had to do ours early because I had my identity stolen in January and we needed to make sure that the nasty person (I might be bitter!) who did that didn’t try to file a claim using my social security number (which they have!).
Umm…I was going to make the boys a nice breakfast this weekend but that never happened – oops!!! (maybe because one of them slept till after 11:00 both days!)

Have yet to do my own taxes but since I’m a CPA I have been looking at nothing but taxes for two months straight!! As usual I will file an extension and do them after April 15. Best breakfast this weekend was French toast and scrambled eggs with feta and spinach. Enjoyed a nice breakfast out with the girls from work after early church before we went into the office…did get a quick 3 miles in this afternoon but no time for longer distances until tax season is over

That wrap looks delicious! My goal this week is to try some new breakfast ideas. Mine have been lacking lately.

Loving those artichokes from Frieda’s too! Have you ever tried them steamed with whole garlic chunks and a drizzle of olive oil while cooking!? Takes them to a whole new level!

Definitely buy wine because of the label/name! Example: Cupcake-Red Velvet and its a really great red blend! I do not envy you for having to set up quickbooks. I use it at work and am always learning new things and visiting the website for help.

I’ve used Quickbooks for years for my photography business. I use a different setup now that is FAR easier with Office and a template. Less nonsensical additional steps than what I had to do with Quickbooks. If you need help, let me know.

My favorite wine: Mommy’s Time Out :-) So, yeah, I buy based on the name.

Haha I’m a bottomless pit after long runs! My fave breakfast this weekend- egg white scramble with spinach and nutritional yeast and 2 vegetarian “sausage” patties on the side.
