So Just One More, Brighter Days and Meb is Pacing in SD

Ugh. I can’t help it.

I’m having a hard time getting motivated to write the recap. I don’t know why. Maybe because I don’t want it to be over. I’m actually not really ready for April to be over either. Where the heck did it go?

And if I’m being honest, I always have a hard time emotionally the week after a big race. I’m elated and can’t stop smiling when I think about it, but yet, I’m a little sad. I wish that wasn’t the case, but maybe some of you understand.

Woke up with a bit of a head cold. Not fun. I actually felt it coming on before the race Saturday, but luckily it held off a bit. If I’m going to be sick, I might as well be sick now. Thank goodness it wasn’t last week.

Needless to say, I got a really slow start this morning, but it was nice. I taught a spin class earlier and used this song as the last song.

We did a progressive hill and added gears and picked up the pace along the way. It was perfect. This song makes me smile.

I went for a little test run later on. My first run since the Big Sur Marathon Sunday. I had my friends ready.

I did 7 easy miles at 1.0 incline.

Then did the whole plank thing since it’s the last day of April and I didn’t really do a great job on doing a plank a day for the April Abs Challenge. Oopsies.

I did the planks today with my feet on the treadmill to change it up a bit. It was tough.

Not sure if you saw the healthy protein root beer float from yesterday, but it was good enough that I already want another one today.

A couple of weeks ago before Boston we had a baby shower for my cute sister-in-law. I was in charge of punch because well, I’m classy like that and sign up for the easy things.

I made this punch and it was a hit.

Not quite the healthy protein root beer float, but you can’t go wrong with pineapple juice, Sprite and rainbow sherbet.

Oh and I was sent these Breeze Bars awhile back to sample and forgot about them with all the traveling and such.

I tried the chocolate cranberry one yesterday and it was good. I like that they’re gluten free, dairy free and wheat free and that they come in a smaller size. I should put a couple in my gym bag.

I’m sure you’ve noticed I’m back on the grains and such and not really eating paleo for the time being. In fact, right now I just polished off this ginormous bowl of air popped popcorn.

Toppings of choice today were coconut oil, molasses, PB2, Penzey’s cinnamon and a stevia in the raw packet. Good stuff.

Oh and totally wearing this bright “Epic Summer Run” tank top on purpose.

I thought it went with the whole brighter days theme I’m trying to pull off here AND because the SUJA Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon and Half just announced on their Facebook page that the one and only Meb is going to pace the 1:30 group for the half marathon.

How cool is that? Maybe I should do the half instead of the full and try to keep up with that guy. Hmm….

And, the price to register goes up tomorrow, so there’s still time today to save some money. Code MAMAROCKS gets an additional $10 off either race also (half or the full). Come run with us, yes? Register here.

And, that’s all the randomness I have at the moment. Time to really rally up and write a recap for tomorrow’s post.

Hope you’re week is treating you well! Thanks for being patient with the recap and for those of you I owe emails and replies. I’m working on it. Just very slowly. Ha.

Do you ever get sad or feel a little let down after a big race or event?

What’s your favorite song to put you in a good mood?

Any easy punch recipes to share?

Anyone already running Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego?

I think after such a huge race, I’d get the blues… which would quickly be remedied by a race registration binge.
I’m anticipating some of the blues after my marathon at the end of this month because I have been on an 18 month training plan and I’ll feel a little directionless afterwards.

I think it’s normal to feel a little down after such a huge race (or in your case–2 back to back huge races!) are over. You’ve been waiting for this moment for over a year. So it’s natural, I get it.

I won’t be running that San Diego race (can’t afford too many destination races) but if I were I would totally line up with Meb even just for a short time! How awesome is that!!

i’ve heard great things about those breeze bars – must try!

Ahhh yes the post-race blues. I Get that a lot and typically end up signing up for another race or setting some big goal. It seems to help 🙂

I’m a little bit in the post-race blues after running the La Jolla half last Sunday. There’s so much build up, and then it’s over, and I think I’m not quite sure what to do with all the emotions and energy. But I’m running the rock ‘n’ roll sd half and I’m excited for it! Too bad I’m not a 1:30 half marathon runner.

I ran Rock n Roll last summer and it was my first sub 2 half! (After that I went on to PR two more races before I got pregnant!) I ran with the 2 hour pace group and the pacer was easily in his 60’s and was INCREDIBLE. I told him my goal to go sub 2 and he told me when to go on ahead at the end. It was the first race that I negative split and I owe it all to that pacer. Ahh, just thinking about it makes me smile and feel sad all at the same time because I can’t run right now. I will be 2 weeks away from baby boy when the Rock n Roll rolls around this summer so I will be cheering from home, but I have thought that 2015 might be the year I should try for the triple crown. What a comeback that would be!

I’m pretty sure that I won’t be even a little sad after my race is finally over (unless I bomb it!) – I’m so ready to do it and move on!!!

Hey hey! I like Breeze Bars too! My favorite is the peanut crunch (: I definitely get sad post big races! I am on such a high after and I have worked so hard for that moment, the week after is like postpartum depression (not that I have been through that).

oh yes….and my family is sick so it’s all about the debbie downers here. I also have an injury in my foot that I am going to see the doctor about tomorrow. I’m dying for a run since the race but I can barely walk. On the brighter side I’m excited to be doing more strength training since my foot is not playing nice. Brighter days ahead!!

Have you heard what Fitfluential is doing for their May Challenge yet? I did the April Plank Challenge and it was great – I’m ready for the next one.
