A few scenes from the day yesterday.

This guy wanted to show you his new trick.

I wanted to show you the cool disco ball in our spin room.

I got quite a lot of new spin song recommendations on instagram yesterday too. I’m pretty excited about coming up with a good playlist for tomorrow’s class.

Flexible is the word of the day today.

When I used to be a full time middle school PE teacher and we were opening a brand new school without bathrooms or equipment we used the “F” word A LOT. We had to be flexible with our plans and our schedule daily. I’m learning that life is very similar sometimes.

This is what I was doing last night at 10:30 pm.

2014-05-12 22.24.35

Not the plan. These days I like to be in bed around 10 or so, but after I taught my classes at the gym I attempted to make a quick stop at Costco for some necessities.

It wasn’t quick and I got a lot more than just a few necessities.

So when I finally got a chance to I park it on the couch with a Costco shrimp roll I attempted to watch a little Dancing With the Stars while getting some work done.

That didn’t go so well either. Those night time “office hours” don’t happen often, but when they do, they always go way too long and I get to bed way too late. Not good. I better not let it happen again.

Needless to say, my plan to wake up at 5:00 am this morning did go as planned. Before I knew it I had a couple visitors who really wanted to play. So we did.

2014-05-13 07.59.24-1

Finally got on the treadmill for 7 easy miles.

2014-05-13 10.31.52

Thought I’d dress up for the occasion in my oldest Target shorts.

2014-05-13 10.32.10

Then I didn’t mess around at all with my breakfast.

2014-05-12 10.26.25

Yes, this egg white scramble was pretty spectacular. My favorite chicken apple sausage, shaved Brussels sprouts and zucchini with egg whites in coconut oil and of course topped with Scotty B’s sweet bacon jalapeño sauce. Good stuff.

I taught a BOSU class later on.

Here’s a little move for the day for you. One-leg shoulder push up on the BOSU.

2014-05-13 12.27.422014-05-13 12.27.58

It’s not easy friends. It can be done on the floor too, but the BOSU just makes it that much better. Ha.

Here’s a very short video demo for your viewing pleasure.

Gotta love Joaquin’s comment and Judah’s yelling in the background. Love those guys.

I’m not very flexible in a physical sense either. I’m so stiff. Even though I was a gymnast for years, I still really need to work on my flexibility. Speaking of that and YouTube, iFit just launched a new iFit Daily Yoga class on their channel. I was just talking about wanting to find a good yoga video a couple of weeks ago that I could do at home. I think this might be my answer. I just subscribed to their iFit Live channel.

Here’s the first yoga video. It’s about 30 minutes and they’ll be coming out with a new one every day. In fact, they already have the second one out so I’m already a day behind. Ha. I’m not planning on doing it everyday, but I’m definitely going to try to do it at least once a week for the rest of the month.

They even use the same cool yoga block that I have. It must be a sign.

Smile

Okay and with that and with this matcha green tea almond milk protein drink I’m off.

2014-05-13 13.41.49

I really need to be flexible with the rest of my afternoon. I’m a little overwhelmed at the moment and need a few deep breaths (or maybe this yoga routine) before I tackle my to-do list.

Working on physical and mental flexibility today. Yikes.

Have a wonderful rest of your Tuesday!

What YouTube Channels do you subscribe to if any?

Are you having to deal with the “F” word today?

What’s for dinner?

I’m going all out and making lazy mama lasagna. It’s been awhile.

I wanted to use a different F word earlier today…

I am so not flexible. Even when I was a kid I wasn’t flexible. I can’t even sit comfortably with my legs straight out in front of me, my hips want to roll back. That probably means something bad, but it’s always been like that!

Dinner tonight was roasted broccoli (I’m addicted), rice, and chicken sausage. I inhaled it.

I’m the mother of 5year old twins and an 8year old. The “F” word is something I know all too well. I wouldn’t make it through the day without being flexible. Glad to know I’m not the only one who has to reschedule a run because of early morning visitors ;) .

Dinner tonight is leftover costco chickens that I deboned and mixed with trader joes BBQ sauce. A tri-colored carrot, tomato, cucumber and feta salad, and cantaloupe. It’s too hot to do make anything else. Plus I’m glued to the tv watching the fires. So sad.

Enjoying your blog. I really try to be flexible. As I am making decisions I tell myself that things will return back to the regular scheduled program soon. That things are only temporary.
I would love yo eat one of breakfasts with all the fixings! Yum yours look so tasty!

Flexibility is pretty crucial in my life as a bacteriologist- sometimes the cells simply don’t cooperate and I find myself in lab at weird hours waiting for bacteria to grow, and finish an experiment. Or sometimes the results of an experiment lead you down a totally new direction that you hadn’t thought of before…that’s when the unpredictability of the job is exciting and fun!

That BOSU move looks super-effective and super-challenging. I’m going to have to give it a shot when I manage to haul myself back into the gym and get back on track with my strength training.

Dinner was a kale/shrimp/asparagus/sweet potato stir fry starring the first veggie delivery from my summer CSA box!

Curious to know what you order from Starbucks? I am trying to lose weight and sometimes with all the options, it can be soooo confusing!

Oh – I can’t wait to try that shoulder push-up on the BOSU!!!
Dinner tonight is easy – BBQ at the outdoor band concert (high school band – final concert of the year) – should be fun and I don’t have to cook. If only it were warmer – oh, well!!

I didn’t realize you used to be a PE teacher. Former teacher here too. If you’re a teacher or have ever been one, you will definitely need to get comfortable with that flexible word. lol

Love the bosu pushup! I’ve done the piked pushups before with my toes on the floor. Will have to try it one legged and with the bosu though! Looks tough!

Oy, I could always work on my flexibility…both mentally and physically.

    LOVE THAT MOVE!!!!!!
