Hump Day Haps, a Few Halos and a Halo GIVEAWAY

Last night I got even lazier than anticipated. I did not do that yoga video and instead of making lazy mama lasagna I roasted a few zucchinis and served it up with roasted sweet potatoes, Costco rotisserie chicken and these fancy Cedarlane veggie and grain bowls for the family.

2014-05-13 19.19.06

I thought it was good, the rest of the men in the house weren’t huge fans. Oh well, more bowls for me.

Woke up at my second alarm (first one is set for 4:55 am).

2014-05-14 05.09.58

Got a treadmill run in right away and was done just around 7:00 am.

2014-05-14 07.10.052014-05-14 07.09.20

Around an 8:10 pace at incline 1.5. That movie by the way was super cute. I love Jennifer Aniston and Jason Bateman. They should make more romantic comedies together.

I had intended on doing a speed workout either yesterday or today, but it didn’t happen. I just can’t get motivated for fast workouts these days. Oh well. Maybe tomorrow.

Dropped the boys off, had a random healthy protein snack in the car (egg whites, turkey and an apple)

2014-05-14 08.09.04

and then taught a spin class.

2014-05-14 09.33.22

Not sure how I feel about the whole wearing a skirt to spin in, but oh well. Not sure I’ve used an iron in the past two years either. Ha.

I like to get on the treadmill after spin if I get a chance to run just a few miles on tired legs. I think it helps with the whole mental game at the end of the race. I did 4 cool down miles while catching a few minutes of Barbara Walters’ last week on The View.

2014-05-14 10.18.04

Do they have someone to take her place?

don’t usually do that many miles on days that I teach classes either, but I’m hoping for a higher mileage week this week because next week the taper for SUJA Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon starts. Yeah, that snuck up like nobody’s business, didn’t it?

You can still sign up (code MAMAROCKS for $10 off either race) and I’m helping Sarah with a little fun run with Pro Compression on Saturday before the race so I’ll let you locals know about it once we get things figured out.

I got my sweaty self out of there quickly.

2014-05-14 10.22.42

I had to laugh at my Halo visor, hat, headband assortment in the car.

2014-05-14 10.27.48

I guess I’m always prepared. I also guess a couple of those really need to be washed.

Speaking of Halo, I got their newest product in the mail the other day.

IMG_3427

It’s a visorband. Pretty smart. All the benefits of the Halo Headband, but with a small visor attached to block the sun a bit.

IMG_3430

Perfect to fit under a cycle helmet or something. It’s super comfortable and I think I might have to take it for a run while I wash the rest of my hats and bands. Ha.

Since I can’t help but show you my eats sometimes, I just polished off this plate of whole grain goodness with NuttZo, coconut butter, SunButter, cinnamon, strawberries, blueberries and PB2.

2014-05-13 13.45.05

I also just had a mocha protein smoothie with this JavaPro sample packet I got in the mail.

2014-05-14 11.12.30

I’m not a fan of sucralose in protein powders, but I wanted something with protein and caffeine so I went for it. I made a smoothie with the packet, Silk AlmondCoconut Blend, frozen coffee cubes (I freeze any leftover coffee), two huge handfuls of spinach and some of my favorite cocoa powder.

IMG_3425

Adding that much spinach makes the color a little funky, but it was delicious.

Smile

Okay, I have some kiddos to pick up from school and we have big plan to make a Lego jet and a pirate ship so if it’s quite around here that’s why. I have some making up to do since I accidentally dropped a certain someone’s Lego jet this morning when we were leaving the house.

But, I don’t want to leave you hanging so………

Halo wants one lucky reader to win one of the new Halo Visorbands.

Yep.

One winner, one cool Visorband.

IMG_3428

I really can’t say enough great things about the Halo company. I love supporting local, smaller businesses. Ever since I tracked them down a couple years ago, they’re stuck with me. Ha.

They’re on Facebook and just recently got on Instagram and Twitter. If you’re feeling like spreading the love today, go ahead and give them a “like” or a follow.

Smile

I set MY clock for 4:45…..went out and ran 4 miles with a beautiful sunrise to view, and then I went to an intense kickboxing session later at 4pm. I would love just a Halo headband, but I will def take a visor to start!

Today was my rest day, so my “workout” consisted of walking to the park at 8am this morning (it was already hot!) with my 2 yr old. We played for awhile, then we walked home.

My newest find at Costco (though it’s not new, I just never had it before) are the uncooked corn tortillas. Omg so much better than any of the store brands. My whole family loves them.

Love this visor/headband combo. Today I taught a circuit class and went for an easy 45 minute run. I have been loving these organic sun-dried calimyrna figs from Costco. The Halo headband/visor looks awesome! I really need some hot weather/sunshine workout gear now that it’s getting warm out.
