Flashback Healthy Cookie Dough Dip Recipe and the Neon Dash

This post is sponsored by FitFluential LLC on behalf of Neon Dash.

It’s Friday. The fires seemed to have calmed down a bit here. Yesterday was a little unsettling all day though. Being home on high alert and just having that anxious, worried feeling all day. Ugh. So many people have had to evacuate. We’ve been blessed and have been able to stay home. Those firefighters have been working their booties off. It’s already 90 degrees here at 10:30 am. It’s going to be another hot one.

No run this morning. I planned on getting my last long long run in before the SUJA Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon and 1/2, but the man had to pull an all nighter at work, so plans have changed.

Poor guy. All he could think about was getting home this morning and going to bed. This is what he found.

For the record, Kitty is the only one who was there all night. The boys came in around 5:30 am or so.

Yesterday the boys and I got a lot of together time. We did circle time while playing school.

The teacher.

We even had school snack time.

We made an oldie, but a goodie.

Mmm hmm……

Healthy Chia Cookie Dough Dip

It had been over a year since we made it. We subbed in some extra brown sugar for the Splenda in the original recipe. If you don’t want to make the dip, the video we made over two years ago making the dip is entertaining at least. Ha.

I forgot how good this dip is.

Yesterday we had it with Flatout Cinnamon Crisps (another funny flashback kitchen video of us making these) and sliced apples.

I topped the dip with Peanut Free NuttZo and SunButter. It was darn good. So were the cinnamon crisps.

Before I go I wanted to tell you that I signed up for a new race called the Neon Dash.

I’ve never done one of these night races before, but have always wanted to. The San Diego Neon Dash is July 12th. It’s a 5K run/walk event designed for all fitness levels. It’s a family friendly race and kids and strollers are welcome. Heck, if the boys weren’t over the stroller weight limit I might even take them for a ride. Hmmmm….. maybe there’s a way to get them in on the fun actually. I might have to figure something out.

This race seems like it’s all about having fun. On the website the only rules listed are that that you need to wear either a plain white shirt or team shirt and that you need to have fun. Sounds like some simple rules to me. Ha.

Yes, you can register by yourself or you can even put a fun team together. I bet this would be a super fun event to do with friends and go all out and dress up and stuff. In fact, I roped my friend Erin into running it with me. The last time we ran a dress up race together it was holiday themed and we wore antlers, so this will be a good change for us. He he.

You run/walk through four different stations where you get sprayed with neon colored water and there’s even an After Dash Bash with performers, music and a photo booth. Now that is just awesome.

So, if you’re local, come run with us. If you’re not local, you can find a Neon Dash near you and do the family thing or get a group of friends together. So much fun, yes?

Use code FIT for $7 off the entry fee. San Diego fiends, you can register here. If you’re not a local, you can find your closest 5K Live Bright Tour here.

I’m leaving you with this last little thought today.

I have to remind myself a lot that when difficult situations come up I need to not try to handle them on my own.

Have a great Friday!

Has anyone ever ran a Neon Dash race before?

What are you most looking forward to this weekend?

DIdn’t even see kitty until you mentioned it…love it. By the way, I save some of your kitty pics because they make me laugh and I’ve even used one or two as my screensaver (:

I am looking up neon dashes right after I send this note. Fun, fun and I didn’t know I could walk it too.

Weekend plans are free-for-all and enjoying perfect spring weather though mornings are still too cool for me. Glad the fires are clearing up. I hope they nab that arsonist (that’s what I hear happened). I think that is so disgusting!
