Last Hoorah For My Flat Friend, the Expo and Giveaway Winners

Hello from San Francisco.

Yep, you get two posts today.

We made it.

Yes, we.

Awww…… dang it. Miss this guy, but I found the flat version of him when I was packing in the wee hours of the morning. I decided he would come along for the trip. This little race weekend will be a celebration for him. I’ve been needing something for some more motivation. Why not Flat Kitty? Ha.

He was pretty smart today though. He chose the exit aisle on the plane.

IMG_0538

There was so much more leg room.

Unfortunately he wasn’t much help with the whole taking the BART into the city and figuring all that out, but we’re learning as we go.

He did help me find some bananas right away.

IMG_0546

He spotted some purple sweet potatoes too, but I don’t think we can figure out how to cook those up in the hotel room.

IMG_0547

Ha.

This seems like it was the happening spot. I’ve never seen a line so long for ice cream.

IMG_0548

Does anyone know, is it worth it? I don’t remember what the place is called, but it’s in the Ferry Building.

We had a quick lunch at Gott’s

IMG_0551IMG_0553

and a Starbucks shaken tea.

IMG_0554

After a rather long bus ride, we made it to the expo.

IMG_0557IMG_0558

We made it there just in time to pick up my number, shirt and make a few stops before it closed.

A few key stops were the Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series booth,

IMG_0559

a quick visit with our Big Sur Marathon friends,

IMG_0561

finding a cute shirt to add to my wish list

IMG_0562IMG_0563

and a stop to check out some new Vega Sport goods.

IMG_0575

Did yo know they have protein bars? I haven’t tried these, but I might have to.

I grabbed a couple packets of my favorite Vega Recovery accelerator.

IMG_0573

Nice.

The entry to The San Francisco Marathon was sponsored by CLEAR Me so I made sure to stop and thank them in person too.

IMG_0579IMG_0576

I thought I’d show them how cool it looks to have your pocket sticking out all day without anyone telling you.

Lovely.

IMG_0585

I knew there was a really great reason I especially loved this race.

IMG_0581

Established in 1977. Awesome since that’s the year I was born. I guess I have to run this race every year now. Ha.

I ran into this awesome lady on the way out who’s running tomorrow too.

IMG_0590IMG_0597

Nothing about the shuttle line or the ride back were short.

IMG_0598

Outfit is ready. Now it’s time for pizza and sleep.

Have a good one!

See you tomorrow after the race!

Oh, and before I forget.

We stopped at the ferry bldg too and my husband got some ice cream there. I guess they handmake the ice cream everyday with some interesting flavors. My husband got one today called bourbon something or other. I tried a bite and you could definitely taste the bourbon!!

Good luck on your race today. I’ll prob be an hour behind you, lol.

That is so awesome you brought flat kitty with you, what a great tribute. Good luck on your race, you’ll rock it, I’m sure! SF is such a fantastic city, I went to college an hour down the coast in Santa Cruz. My absolute favorite restaurant in SF (and maybe the world) is Boulevard, in the financial district. It’s kinda fancy, but SO delicious. Of course, you can’t go wrong with a giant burrito from La Taqueria in the Mission, either :) .

I did not click on any link but never heard of Clear Me….guess I will have to check it out. Question? Are you there alone? I mean besides Flat Kitty that is? No hubby? Are you meeting up with running/blogging friends? I don’t think I would enjoy going somewhere unless I was going with one other person….which now that I think about it is kind of funny since I LOVE working out alone every day and any day but, flying to new places I would like to have someone with me. ha! ;-)

OK…I was 8 years old in 1977 …and by 1987 I was graduating high school….ah, age is a funny thing.

    Deb E says:

Well my big sis graduated high school in 1977 and I was a teenager then and absolutely love all things 70s related. It was the best decade ever, IMO of course! I still wear my hair the same way too, ha ha. Back then I had to run on the guy’s cross-country team since we had only two girls running (finally got a girl’s team later).

And…so THRILLED to be the Yasso winner!! A great big surprise this morning for me to learn that. Made my day too. I really need those sunglasses, lol.

    I feel sort of old – I was a ’69 baby!!!
Sounds like you (and Flat Kitty) had a big day. By now you are done with the race – I hope it was great for you!!!

Oh my goodness….grab a few potatoes…I always find a micro or toaster oven in a hotel. Ask at the front desk since there’s usually a little area for guests or hotels have let me use the employee lounge area. Guarantee there’s one there…if not send me some since I’ve yet to find any in DC even during fall ):

Humphrey Slocombe! :) Handmade ice cream in some crazy flavors. They recently opened tht one in the ferry building (the other one in the city is super popular too!) but the lines for the one in the fery building are always crazy long!

Love that tank with the heart! Do you know who makes it?

  13. 13

Looks like a great time! We went up to SF a couple years ago, and loved it!! I was gonna say hopefully I’ll make it up there again soon, when mid-thought, I realized I will…next month, for Ragnar!! Yay =D
