Focusing on Good Things- Free Photos, a Pro Shake Out Run and REM_Fit Bedding

 

When times get tough, it’s best to focus on all the good things.

That’s what I’ll be doing today.

I had a couple thoughts last night, but the most important one was that people should just be nice.

I could say a lot more, but I’m not going to right now. Let’s all just be nice and help people out instead of knocking them down. That’s just so silly.

 

My legs are finally feeling a little better after the race Sunday. Holy heck I swear it felt like I had been hit by a train for a few days.

I got on the treadmill early this morning for some easy miles. There was no way I was going at anything over 1.0 as an incline.

I tried to finish this show before anyone walked in and surprised me. I like the show, but the beginning is a bit disturbing to me for some reason.

One Orange is the New Black and one Sex and the City episode later and ten miles were over.

I did some serious double fisting my my Vega recovery drink and coffee immediately following.

Cleaned up, had a snack, got the boys ready and hit up the gym to teach spin and do the swim lesson thing.

New fun spin song by the way is this one. Riptide by Vance Joy. Good hill climb with some faster pushes with the chorus.

I finally made some good pumpkin French Toast this morning and actually wrote down the measurements for a change so I can share.

Everything is better topped with SunButter and such, isn’t it? What the heck would we do without nut butter?

Speaking of, those Silky Dark Chocolate Cups I made yesterday are really great topped with SunButter.

Some other good news to share:

Results from the Stairway to Heaven race on Sunday are in. I got 6th place overall female out of 193.

 

I totally forgot to tell you that the San Francisco Marathon 2014 had free race photos. Usually races charge you like $30 or something to download a picture, but they let you have all of them for FREE. How cool is that?

Speaking of races, this weekend is America’s Finest City Half Marathon. This was the very first half marathon I ever did and I think it was 8 or 9 years ago. I can’t remember.

I’m excited for it this weekend. I know quite a few friends that are running so it should be a good time.

Heck yes. We had such a blast the last time we did a Pro Compression Shake Out Run, we’re doing one again. Same place, different time.

I didn’t remove any of the filling on the pillow, although you easily can to adjust to your personal preference. I feel like it’s just right with the amount of filling that came in it.

Are you picky about your bedding or pillows? I’m really high maintenance when it comes to how firm a pillow is. It has to be just right and my arm has to fit comfortably under the pillow.

    I am super picky about my pillow. The only one to pass the test is the Sealy posturepedic. They are like $75 or something like that, but it’s worth it to not wake up with a headache every day.
    Darn, I so wish I lived in CA so I could do these races and shakeout runs with you!!!!
    I’m focusing on how awesome my trail run is going to be tomorrow…exploring a new part…so excited!!!

    Great pics. Makes the marathons look so easy!. LOL. I’m picky about my pillows too. Horrible when you wake up with neck cramps from pillows being too soft or too hard!

    My race photos are never that flattering! I love the purple ensemble. :)

    I’m focusing on how great running is making me feel about my body right now. I can’t remember the last time I was feeling this positive about it.

    I’m very picky about my pillow. It has to be just the right level of squishiness. I also have to have at least a sheet touching me, no matter how hot it is.

    Reading your blog always makes me feel a little closer to home. I live in the jungle but miss California sometimes. I dont have many places to run but am going to try out my trail shoes on a hike tommorrow. Anyhoo here’s a dark chocholate recipe to try. Use grated coconut and cocoa powder to make a flourless chocolate cake or muffin. So yummy.

    I agree with you on focusing on the good. In fact I have a small blog (www.milestohomestead.com) and I think pretty much all of my posts this summer have been about that. My friend is doing a happiness challenge where she has to post something each day that makes her happy. She is going through a rough patch too and said this has absolutely made her feel better. You should try it.

    I love that my arm is totally photo-bombing one of your race pics. And, also, that one of your race pics is also one of my race pics. I signed up for 2015 (of course I did, lol)…did you?

    I’m really picky about pillows and I have to read before I attempt sleep. After kids, sleep is just not the same, so I do what I need to do religiously. I think our mattress is almost dead, which makes it tough sometimes. Maybe we need to splurge on a memory foam bed!

    Wish I was doing AFC- I never did it once the entire time we lived in SD. I did a half last Sat, though, and I was trying to just focus on being thankful for being healthy and feeling strong, because I mentally was NOT ready to race again. (When I got up at 4am to start the pre-race rituals, I was thinking, “THIS AGAIN?!?! DIDN’T I JUST DO THIS?!?!) If I was down there, I’d totally shake-out run with you guys and I’d train with you!
