Started the day with a little treadmill run while watching Parenthood.
It went by relatively quickly. I toyed with the idea of throwing in some Yasso 800s in there, but decided to just keep my Flat Bart close by instead.
I can’t believe the Kauai Marathon is Sunday. I can’t freaking believe I’ll be in Hawaii in less than a week. Ahhhhhh!!!!!! The one and only time I’ve been there was on our honeymoon 10 years ago. Crazy.
I particularly love these three things right after a morning run.
I also really like this little message.
It’s just perfect, isn’t it?
We took full advantage of the beautiful day yesterday and a beach invite from our good friends.
If you’re on Instagram you saw that yesterday was kind of a big day for us. Not just because we went to the beach, but we said good bye yet again. This has really been the summer of life changes over here. Luckily this one was voluntary and not like our other unpleasant goodbyes we’ve had lately.
We gave it one last two minute ride.
The stroller has been sitting outside for a long time. I can’t remember the last time I used it so thought it really wasn’t going to be a big deal to give it out our friends.
Man was I wrong. The minute I started pushing it over I got really sad. We’ve had so many memories with that stroller. It was such a big part of our life for 4 years. I taught stroller classes with it, we took it on many adventures and we even races two half marathons pushing it (this one and this one).
Beavis, it’s still making me a little sad thinking about it. That’s all just a part of life right though? We grow out of things. I’m just really not good at changes and saying good bye.
One really funny thing though was that I was showing my friend how to fold down the sweet Ironman BOB.
He looked at me and said, “no, it has to fold down more than that”. I laughed and said, “no, that’s all, there’s no way it can get any smaller.”
Well, about two seconds later this guy had the stroller folded up the smallest I’ ever seen it.
No joke. I had that stroller in my car for 4 years and piled many groceries, etc. around it all the time. I NEVER knew it could fold up even smaller. Dang it. I really could’ve fit a lot more groceries with that thing. Pretty funny stuff.
I have to say though that our stroller is in really great hands.
This girl, Becky, is one heck of an amazing friend and mama. I’m so glad she’s back in CA. She’s one of those friends you just can’t stop smiling and laughing when you’re around her. Her hubby is the same way. Love them and LOVE that they have the stroller.
Some other things went down this past weekend, that don’t really seem like they’d be big deals, but they were to me, so I’m going to go ahead and share.
First of all, the discovery of this Chicago style popcorn from Trader Joe’s.
Between the four of us this back lasted approximately 30 minutes.
It was so good.
I also needed a quick snack yesterday afternoon once we got home from the beach and made up this little salad.
Broccoli slaw, organic spinach, humming balsamic dressing and canned salmon. I threw it together so quickly and it was delicious.
I ran out of both of these things yesterday. This is a huge deal as I use egg whites and Silk almondmilk on a daily basis, but I leave in five days so I’m going to see if I can make it without going to the store to buy groceries.
It’s going to be a little rough and to be honest, I’m not entirely confident I can last. We’ll see.
I also finally did a bit of deep cleaning at home over the weekend. You know once you start scrubbing walls you realize how dirty they are? I also realized that I would much rather being sweating it out on a treadmill than sweating it out scrubbing and cleaning, but I SHOULD be doing more of the latter.
I got out our crock pot for the first time in probably a year last night. I used this random marinade with chicken.
After I cooked it a bit in the crockpot I baked it for 10 minutes at 425 to get the chicken crispy.
It turned out pretty well and we made some healthy chicken nachos out of it for dinner.
I know this really won’t seem like a big deal, but there was a hummingbird at our feeder yesterday afternoon.
I can’t even tell you how excited I was to see that little bird. Sometimes it’s the little things.
Our night last night was perfect. We’re soaking up every last bit of summer that we can.
Eating outside on the patio happens quite frequently, but every time we do, we like to call it a “party”.
And, my morning office hours are up. What’s done is done.
Oh, if you missed this fun 10-1 Triple Threat Workout, I really think you should try it this week! Someone asked me how long it took us and I totally don’t know, so I’ll have the boys help time me doing it tomorrow and I’ll get back to you. If YOU do it, keep track of your time too. It would be fun to have a base time to try to beat every week. A little friendly self competition. Ha ha.
Have a great day!
Tell me something that was a big deal over the weekend.
Have you given up your stroller? If so, was it emotional for you too?
