Bye Bye BOB and Some Big Deals

Happy Monday.

Started the day with a little treadmill run while watching Parenthood.

It went by relatively quickly. I toyed with the idea of throwing in some Yasso 800s in there, but decided to just keep my Flat Bart close by instead.

I can’t believe the Kauai Marathon is Sunday. I can’t freaking believe I’ll be in Hawaii in less than a week. Ahhhhhh!!!!!! The one and only time I’ve been there was on our honeymoon 10 years ago. Crazy.

I’m currently double fisting my Vega recovery drink, coffee and just took my CocoaVia supplements.

I particularly love these three things right after a morning run.

I also really like this little message.

It’s just perfect, isn’t it?

We took full advantage of the beautiful day yesterday and a beach invite from our good friends.

If you’re on Instagram you saw that yesterday was kind of a big day for us. Not just because we went to the beach, but we said good bye yet again. This has really been the summer of life changes over here. Luckily this one was voluntary and not like our other unpleasant goodbyes we’ve had lately.

We said bye to BOB. No, not this one, although I do really wonder what that guy is up to these days.

This one.

2014-08-24 13.24.17

We gave it one last two minute ride.

2014-08-24 13.24.50

The stroller has been sitting outside for a long time. I can’t remember the last time I used it so thought it really wasn’t going to be a big deal to give it out our friends.

Man was I wrong. The minute I started pushing it over I got really sad. We’ve had so many memories with that stroller. It was such a big part of our life for 4 years. I taught stroller classes with it, we took it on many adventures and we even races two half marathons pushing it (this one and this one).

Beavis, it’s still making me a little sad thinking about it. That’s all just a part of life right though? We grow out of things. I’m just really not good at changes and saying good bye.

One really funny thing though was that I was showing my friend how to fold down the sweet Ironman BOB.

He looked at me and said, “no, it has to fold down more than that”. I laughed and said, “no, that’s all, there’s no way it can get any smaller.”

Well, about two seconds later this guy had the stroller folded up the smallest I’ ever seen it.

2014-08-24 13.30.03

No joke. I had that stroller in my car for 4 years and piled many groceries, etc. around it all the time. I NEVER knew it could fold up even smaller. Dang it. I really could’ve fit a lot more groceries with that thing. Pretty funny stuff.

I have to say though that our stroller is in really great hands.

This girl, Becky, is one heck of an amazing friend and mama. I’m so glad she’s back in CA. She’s one of those friends you just can’t stop smiling and laughing when you’re around her. Her hubby is the same way. Love them and LOVE that they have the stroller.

Some other things went down this past weekend, that don’t really seem like they’d be big deals, but they were to me, so I’m going to go ahead and share.

First of all, the discovery of this Chicago style popcorn from Trader Joe’s.

2014-08-24 14.42.42

Between the four of us this back lasted approximately 30 minutes.

I combined these three things yesterday to make a really tasty raspberry iced tea type drink- raspberry Emergen-C, lemon tea Nuun and apple cider vinegar.

2014-08-24 15.44.01

It was so good.

I also needed a quick snack yesterday afternoon once we got home from the beach and made up this little salad.

IMG_4410

Broccoli slaw, organic spinach, humming balsamic dressing and canned salmon. I threw it together so quickly and it was delicious.

I ran out of both of these things yesterday. This is a huge deal as I use egg whites and Silk almondmilk on a daily basis, but I leave in five days so I’m going to see if I can make it without going to the store to buy groceries.

IMG_4411

It’s going to be a little rough and to be honest, I’m not entirely confident I can last. We’ll see.

I also finally did a bit of deep cleaning at home over the weekend. You know once you start scrubbing walls you realize how dirty they are? I also realized that I would much rather being sweating it out on a treadmill than sweating it out scrubbing and cleaning, but I SHOULD be doing more of the latter.

I got out our crock pot for the first time in probably a year last night. I used this random marinade with chicken.

IMG_4413

After I cooked it a bit in the crockpot I baked it for 10 minutes at 425 to get the chicken crispy.

IMG_4416

It turned out pretty well and we made some healthy chicken nachos out of it for dinner.

I know this really won’t seem like a big deal, but there was a hummingbird at our feeder yesterday afternoon.

I can’t even tell you how excited I was to see that little bird. Sometimes it’s the little things.

Our night last night was perfect. We’re soaking up every last bit of summer that we can.

Eating outside on the patio happens quite frequently, but every time we do, we like to call it a “party”.

And, my morning office hours are up. What’s done is done.

Oh, if you missed this fun 10-1 Triple Threat Workout, I really think you should try it this week! Someone asked me how long it took us and I totally don’t know, so I’ll have the boys help time me doing it tomorrow and I’ll get back to you. If YOU do it, keep track of your time too. It would be fun to have a base time to try to beat every week. A little friendly self competition. Ha ha.

Oh, and the Halo GIVEAWAY is still open for another day. You can enter here if you haven’t entered yet.

Have a great day!

Tell me something that was a big deal over the weekend.

Have you given up your stroller? If so, was it emotional for you too?

I ran a half marathon. It was after a week off for a sore knee. It was also downhill. It’s two days later and I am still so sore! It’s irritating.
I have a hard time giving up anything with memories. My children use to call me a hoarder and then they saw the show Hoarders and changed their mind. I’m trying to go through my house and really look at objects with a clearer thought process and give away things that I really don’t need and only keep the few precious memories. But I know exactly what you mean.

I actually got that Chicago Mix this weekend! It is so good…I’ve never had cheese and caramel popcorn together like that!

Btw, you look great. I aspire to have arms like you!!

Not really a big deal but I turned 45 yesterday. Ugh LOL! Birthdays just aren’t as fun as they used to be. My husband took me out for some excellent pizza and we finally watched Guardians of the Galaxy. It was a blast! We don’t have children so I’ve never had a stroller. I can imagine it would be emotional to part with though. I’ve got to sit through 3 more work days and then off to Kauai! If you have time, check out Brick Oven Pizza they have a wheat crust option and their pizza is GOOD! Safe travels!

Five days? You so have to go and get some almond milk! You can use it up in five days. It has been 100+ degrees here so mostly swimming this past weekend. Like you say, time is love, and I spend it with the kids. Mine are older than yours and I still have the single BOB.

My littlest started kindergarten today, so I feel ya on the changes. I now have 6.5 hours to myself, 5 days a week, first time since I had my oldest in Jan 2005. Holy cow! It was hard when I got rid of the first of the baby things, but once I got over that I couldn’t wait to get rid of everything else.

Lemon Tea Nuun?!?!?! Blow me over. WANT. We don’t carry that flavor.

I wish I was running in Kauai, the place of our honeymoon! I’m doing a trail marathon in Breckenridge Sunday, which promises to be probably the hardest race I’ll have done thus far. Good luck and have a blast! Bringing the kids?

Stroller ??? Haven’t used one of those things in years……however, we did receive my mother-in-laws wheel chair 3 years ago after she passed and the kids LOVE pushing others in it….sitting in it…just being silly…they almost have it worn out and I am pretty sure by the time one of us may actually need it it won’t be salvageable anymore.

Oh my gosh that chicken marinade looks AMAZING.. can we take shots of that at the bar instead?

And this totally reminded me! I’m obsessed with Boom chicka pop and they actually have a healthy Chicago version! The cheddar and caramel and it is to diiiiieeee for.. TOTALLY worth a look if you already finished that first bag :)

I’m laughing about the folding of the stroller – I would probably have been just like you!!!
And, what a great idea to bake chicken after cooking it in the crock pot – I love using the crock pot but sometimes the chicken has a “different” texture – gonna try your plan!!!
So excited (and a bit jealous) that you will be in Hawaii in less than a week!

I love Parenthood and I heard it’s only coming back for one more season. I’m so sad.

And I cannot wait to have children just so I can join the BOB club! :)

Have SO much fun in Hawaii. I’m majorly jealous. So beautiful there. I think I”ll cry when I give up my running stroller. Its a major part of my life (isn’t that crazy?). Glad yours went to a good home <3 <3

I have a BOB and I’ve always thought that it’s so unfortunate that it doesn’t fold down more… now I have to go check this out!!

I feel your pain! I technically haven’t said good-bye to my BOB although friends have been “borrowing” it for the past 2+ yrs! I have an amazing sling I can’t get rid of either…I say that I am keeping it to use with my grandchildren someday!

Our BOB is such a part of our family when we added the double BOB I couldn’t part with our single! He’s just been too good to us! By the way, do you know how much those resale for??!! It’s ridiculous!!
