My Excuse This Time and Why I HAVE to be Well Rested For Tomorrow

I got on the treadmill about 2 and a half hours late this morning, but still made it there. I was a little nervous about attempting some speed work, but was looking forward to moving my legs and watching a little Parenthood.

I had a little ambitious workout written out and for the most part I stuck to it.

Just the top part was for today. That bottom workout is for sometime later this week.

I did everything on a 1.0 incline- 2 mile warm up, 4 x 5:30 minutes at 6:40 pace (instead of 6:30- not sure what I was thinking there), then about 3 miles to cool down at a 8:00 mile pace.

I was nervous and a little hesitant before I got started, but then it really wasn’t THAT bad.

I need to remember that next time dumb doubt tries to sneak in there and mess with my head. It’s always okay afterwards, right? Even when I think about the marathon last week that kicked my butt, worked me over and humbled me like no other (recap coming soon), it really didn’t seem THAT bad.

I was back to my Vega recovery drink this morning. It felt good to get in some greens again.

I did not get enough greens in Kauai, but I did get my fair share of sausage, fish, a Puka Dog, Kauai Coffee and Lappert’s ice cream. It was fabulous.

I made up for some missing greens with lunch today also.

I topped the salad beast with humming balsamic dressing and Cholula. They are so darn good on any salad.

I ate a bazillion other things today too, but I’m kind of over taking pictures at every meal at the moment. It saves a heck of a lot of time in my day when I don’t. Ha.

Today was a long day back teaching classes and such, but I made it.

I got home just in time to do some high class grilling of Applegate hot dog for our family Charger Party.

Yep. It’s our thing. Partying in pajamas.

Speaking of, these guys have their first day of their new preschool class tomorrow. They missed the first week while we were gone so tomorrow is going to be a bit of a shock. I think I’m more nervous than them.

One of them has already told me multiple times that he is NOT going to school and is going to hide tomorrow so he doesn’t have to go. Lovely. Any guess who that might be?

I’m not taking any chances and I’m making myself get a good night’s sleep to be able to handle whatever might happen tomorrow morning. I’ve got to be prepared friends.

That’s my excuse for still not getting a race recap post up and not answering any emails in my inbox that have been there since before vacation. I need my sleep. Oh and Nala. Dang she is needy these days and it’s impossible to get work done in here late at night with her all in my face and such. Don’t even let that innocent look fool you.

Wait a minute. I did, however, find the time to register for The 2015 Boston Marathon. Fingers crossed I filled everything out correctly and my application gets approved.

Okay. Good night. Catch you tomorrow.

If I’m not around, it might not be a good thing. Fingers crossed that all goes well with the boys and preschool tomorrow. Eeeekkkk…

Have a good one!

Do you do the whole Monday night football thing?

Have you ever had a workout that you thought was going to be so hard and then it really wasn’t that bad afterwards? (I feel like any high intensity interval work is like that.)

We don’t watch Monday night football – we are pretty lame like that.
BTW – my next race is Thursday. It is the Patriots Race in Kansas City. I’m doing the ultra portion from noon to 9:11 pm!

Good luck for the first day of school! My little guy had such a hard time last year but yesterday was a breeze. Keeping fingers crossed. I understand the nerves!

YAY on getting to sign up for Boston!! Can’t wait to follow you on that journey!! And PS Does it seem to be easier to do speed work on the treadmill? I wonder if I would be able to go faster because my legs are being FORCED to go that fast (or fear falling) as opposed to on a track… Hmmmm….

Whenever I set out to do a long run or a a 90min spin class followed by strength training, I get a little worried. I usually feel so great and accomplished after it though and realize I’m capable of more than I originally thought.
