Family First

Family First

Monday had a bit of a rough start. Darn it, I’m just now remembering that I don’t know if I dreamt in color or black or white or if I even dreamt at all. Beavis. I need to pay more attention.

I thought I might be ready for some speed work on the treadmill in the wee hours of the morning to start the week, but my mind and body had other ideas.

I pushed through ten miles at 1.0 incline while watching this movie.

Neither my run nor the movie were impressive, but I got the job done and I got to break in the shoes.

I played around with the incline for a little cool down walk.

I only had a little time afterwards, but did some balance work on the HumanX Balance XT.

I only used it to do a few body weight lunges on each side.

Then just a few squats and isometric squat holds.

I want to use it for some plyometric moves next, but it was a nice little balance challenge to add to a couple moves.

Usually Mondays are nutty and a teach throughout the day, but today was different.

Family first.

That’s one thing Andrew has always said. One of the many lessons I’ve learned from him. No matter what you have going on or how busy you are or how much work you should be doing, it’s always important to put family first. Time is love.

So instead of my long day of classes that usually happens on Mondays, we had a long trip in the car with family.

Long trips always include the best snack choices.

My friend Janae eats cottage cheese and grapes and you know, after you see someone else’s snack so many times you finally have to try it out yourself.

I added a NuttZo pack too because everything is better with NuttZo.

Obviously there was a Starbucks stop involved. Iced Americano for the win.

Among other things were a lemon pie Quest Bar and a slice of Seedy Silk STUFT Bread.

This stuff is so good, I eat just plain sometimes. Straight out of the freezer and in a couple hours it’s ready to chow down.

Whelp, that’s about it for now because I’m blogging from a full minivan.

Here are three very important pieces of family advice from the van though to pass along that we learned today.

1. Put family first before all things. Never underestimate the importance of family.

2. The key to marriage longevity is to share the same passions in life or to be supportive about your partner’s true passions.

3. The “ninja” does not work for family events or any group greater than four.

Any advice to pass along?

I’m going to try your new bread recipe, substituting oat bran, wheat germ or flax meal for psyllium, which sub do you think would work best?

Family first for sure Kristin! Learn it early – I did not! 🙂

I love this post. Thanks for the great advice! I agree that you need to be supportive of your partners passion but I don’t know if everyone feels it’s as important as it truly is. I hope you had a fun family road trip day!
