From the Weekend- Runs, Highlights, Moments and the Pro Legging Sale

Let’s see. My week of running was not ideal, but I logged the miles in. Non of my runs were hard, had any kind of speed work associated with them or were stellar.

I’m two weeks out from the TCS New York Marathon and should be officially into my taper. Ideally I would have done some great quality runs this past week, but that didn’t happen. Ideally I would not have been sick and had a head cold that refused to go away, but that didn’t happen either. Ideally from a coach’s stand point or training plan, I would not have run a full marathon as my last long run like I did in Long Beach last weekend either, but what can I say, I really wanted to run that race and am so glad I did as I loved everything about it.

So, not really the ideal situation two weeks out from a marathon, but I’m just going with it and seeing what I can do.

I did run both days over the weekend and ran a total of 54 miles for the week.

Saturday I didn’t get to my run until later in the day, but ran 18 hilly miles outside.

2014-10-18 11.24.14 HDR

The run was particularly slow, but I took a new route for a change and enjoyed the southern California fall weather.

2014-10-18 11.26.532014-10-18 11.46.252014-10-18 11.46.432014-10-18 13.30.43

I still don’t know what that running index number means. Maybe I should find out.

Today I didn’t get to my run until the afternoon either. I thought about not doing it at all, but then figured I would jump on the treadmill for a few The Mindy Project episodes. Love that they’re in New York too and we’ll be there so soon!

2014-10-19 13.26.11

I ran a total of 6 miles on there today at 1.0 incline.

Next week is a new week. I’m finally kicking this head cold business thank goodness and I’m just pretty much going to try to maintain until New York. We’ll see what happens.

Some random eats from the weekend include my pre run egg white breakfast STUFTwich with goat cheese cream cheese and jam.

2014-10-18 09.56.27

My post run mess of a chicken salad

2014-10-18 14.48.52

that was closely followed by sweetener free roasted kabocha and a baked purple sweet potato with NuttZo and some protein dark chocolate sauce.

2014-10-18 15.17.19

Saturday night I was craving macaroni and cheese (probably because the boys and I had been talking about it earlier and that’s what they wanted for dinner) so I made a box of Annie’s Whole Wheat shells, but used goat cheese and nutritional yeast instead of the cheese packet.

2014-10-18 19.50.39

I added some chilis, some hot sauce, some seasoning, garlic salt, crushed red pepper flakes, and goodness knows what else then topped it with as much broccoli as possible.

2014-10-18 20.07.32

I also was craving grape soda which is really strange, but took it upon myself to wash my big bowl of carb goodness down with a Zevia grape soda.

The boys had their macaroni and cheese too (STUFT boy style) and we had a little movie night.

This weekend flew by like they always do, but holy cow I found myself smiling pretty much the entire time.

It started with our big Brick-or Treat adventure and the good times just kept going.

Smile

I forgot to mention I had another little workout at Fitwall Friday. It was the “Twister” workout and there was definitely a lot of twisting involved. Good times.

Oh my goodness, and this soccer thing. Every game gets better and better. I just love this picture for so many reasons. Please check out not only Judah and his wave but what’s going on in the background.

2014-10-18 08.56.09

Right?

Since it was my only race free weekend of the month, naturally we went down to cheer on our friends at the Athleta Esprit de She Triathlon in Mission Bay.

2014-10-19 07.55.392014-10-19 08.27.41 HDR

We didn’t know our friend Rudy (otherwise known as the best race announcer ever) was going to be there, but man it sure made the day for the boys.

2014-10-19 09.07.17

My friend Heather is super speedy and pretty much cleans house for her age group in all her races.

2014-10-19 08.40.50

My friend Laurie kicked bootie too and it was so fun to surprise her by being there.

2014-10-19 09.10.08

It was also just really great hanging out as a family on a Sunday. We rarely get to do that since STUFT Daddy is usually working.

2014-10-19 09.39.45

This was the best moment of the day. Just watching this.

2014-10-19 10.18.05

Actually getting on with them, not so much fun because it was just not comfortable, but watching from the side was spectacular.

Among our other advnetures today, the boys helped Daddy with some animal chores.

2014-10-19 11.12.50

I said hello to my favorite cranes.

2014-10-19 11.18.09

I really should just do a post on all our animals someday, huh?

We had another family Charger Party today too, but we won’t talk about the outcome of the game. I will show you these little cute things Mom made though.

2014-10-19 16.14.35

Aren’t they cute? They’re owls, right?

Now, let’s talk about the Pro Compression legging really quick. My past review on them is here, but they really are one of my favorite pants to wear. I love working out in them, but I also love just wearing them out and about like today.

2014-10-19 09.45.35

I wore them with the cuffs down for a bit and then changed it up with the cuffs up.

2014-10-19 09.48.34

What you NEED to know though is that they are ON SALE for $50 instead of $80 at the moment.

And…

if you use code STUFT14 which gets you 40% off anything AND FREE SHIPPING, you get an additional discount.

Wait, so if I’m doing the math right, that means you can buy these leggings (that come in three different color options for the side stitching) for $30 (actually there’s $2.40 on there for tax, so the total for the leggings would be $32.40), but holy smokes that’s a good deal for such quality leggings.

By the way I saw another aerobics instructor wearing these last week and had to do a double take because of her cute leggings. Ha ha.

I just had to pass this along wince the weather is cooling off and this deal is so exciting.

2014-10-19 09.48.45

Please no comments about my feet. Someone once told me that if your second toe is longer than your first, it means you’re a leader. I like to tell myself that. Ha ha.

Okay, I better get to bed. Oh, but you can also still use the code for 40% off anything else on the website, even the Sock of the Month.

Hope you had a fabulous weekend and that your week is off to a great start!

What is one thing you really want to do this week?

do you promise the leggings aren’t see thru :) I trust you!!!! I really am just so annoyed that see thru is the new normal in workout gear these days, and to pay such a high price on what you expect to be nice gear is so frustrating!!! Makes it really hard to squat and deadlift!!!!!!

      STUFT Mama says:

Ha ha. I hate see through pants. I do the squat test in these and wear them when I’m in low squats in front of a large group of people. I will double check again today, but I haven’t had any issues so far. :)

Rock some speed work!! :) And prepare for my half in 2 weeks….sadly I felt awful yesterday morning and only ended up doing the five and dime and not the hat trick at Runner’s world this past weekend. Missed seeing you there!! Have a great week!

    Adrienne says:

    What size do you wear??

  5. 5

I already have a pair of those leggings and I love them! I’m trying not to buy another pair since I don’t really NEED them, but it’s such a good deal, and they’re so awesome!

My mom is visiting this week, so I don’t have a lot of goals for the week :) We’re going down to NYC to play tourist on Wednesday, which will be a lot of fun!

      STUFT Mama says:

We might need some NYC ideas if you have some. :) And obviously you need another pair of these for fall/winter. :)

      • I rationalized – a new pair of leggings are on their way! :)

I don’t know how much time you’ll have in NYC but some ideas (they’re all over the place): Lombardi’s Pizza (SO good), ice skating at Rockefeller Plaza, Top of the Rock (amazing view of the city), and Holiday shops at Bryant Park (if you go, track down the Wafels and Dinges food cart – best Liege waffle ever). I have also heard great things about the Bronx Zoo, but I haven’t been yet. :)

Were the gray pc socks a limited edition? I noticed your wore them for a race recently, I really liked them, but don’t see them on their website.

      STUFT Mama says:

I’m not seeing them on there either. Sometimes certain colors go out of stock and then come back in. I can ask if they’re coming back anytime soon if you want. Let me know!

    Sarah K. says:

Ah! I LOVE those leggings. I think I’m going to order a pair. I had a black capri pair, but I seemed to have lost them. The Pro Compression leggings seem like a quality pair. I can’t believe how affordable they are with your discount code!

Also, DANG, GIRL! You could crack a walnut with your thighs! As I’ve increased my mileage, I’ve noticed that shape happening to my legs, too. Thank goodness for running and rock hard leg muscles! You look fab!

  8. 8

I love the look of those leggings – the stripes at the bottom are super cute!

      STUFT Mama says:

Hey- COOLIO!!!! :) Where in Hawaii are you?

      • Kim says:

I live in Kailua on the island of Oahu. I really don’t need leggings here, haha. However, my husband is in the Coast Guard and we’ll be moving on in 2 years, so I’ll pack them away for trips and wherever we end up next!

  10. 10

You sold me- I just ordered the leggings!!! I couldn’t afford NOT to ;) Thanks for sharing the sale and coupon!

  11. 11

Bought the leggings and a pair of compression socks today – awesome discount! I’m debating spectating NY this year, I’ve been wanting to run it for 2 years now :)

  12. 12

LOVE those capris and TOTALLY just ordered them!

    elizabeth says:

Not sure what size to get in the pc legging? According to the size chart, my hips are a 2, but waist is almost size 6. I would usually go with a medium size. Do you think its okay to size up in these leggings?

    • 13.1
      STUFT Mama says:

Hmm……. I’m not sure. I don’t want to tell you the wrong thing. I would say go in between. :) Let me know what you decide.

      Anne says:

I originally bought the size 4, but exchanged it for a 6. I go between a size 4/small (most of the time) and size 6/med depending on the brand. The 4 felt great in the leg, but the waist was not comfortable or flattering. The 6 is more comfortable and it can be tightened with the drawstring or folded down on top.

    Kim says:

Y’all have cranes? Yes, you should totally do a post with all of your animals!!!
And, that soccer picture is the best!! That will be a good picture in years to come:)

You look so cute always to me!!!!!!!!!!!!! Course I always love the family pics but the beauty of the nicer weather – love!

    Love. It.

    The long run….no question.
Fav find at TJ’s — brown rice-freezer section. Boring but love it. Ohhhhh and the flax chips. Spicy of course. ;)

I laughed so hard at the soccer pic!!

Please do a post on all your animals!!! I’d love to see them all :)

    Becky says:

Too late for you to take me with you to NYC? Please? We could photobomb each other again. :) That’s the one thing I really want to do. I went in 2012 (we had already landed in NY and were on the bus to Manhattan when Bloomberg cancelled) and would love to do this one someday. I have a time qualifier now but it’s just such a pricey trip. Maybe when I’m 50, ha!

I hope everything is going ok in your life. I agree about taking some time to re-evaluate after NYC. I think it’ll be good. I’m doing that now. I think it all gets to be too much after awhile, right? I imagine it’s pretty hard to keep things private when you write a blog, too. You feel like it’s a spotlight on your life.

I might need those pants. Like, today.

I am a little late to the Pro Compression pants party :) but thank you for the awesome reviews of the crops! I had to order a pair in pink- and the sock of the month calf sleeves, and low trainers, and racer socks…. I sure hope you get a kick back from all of us out here in the runner world ordering from them thanks to your say so. And I have heard that the second toe being longer means you are highly intelligent – as a weirdly long second toe-r, I like that idea!!!

    Leah says:

I just received my Pro Compression leggings in the mail after buying them based on your recommendation. I absolutely LOVE them! They are cute, comfortable, and functional! Thanks for putting them on my radar!
