Progression Run, We Did it and a HALF TIME™ Lunch Kit GIVEAWAY

Progression Run, We Did it and a HALF TIME™ Lunch Kit GIVEAWAY

Well hello.

Last night I was thinking I needed to be in a rush to get this post and a giveaway up as early as possible, but then today I had a bit of a change of heart and decided to enjoy the moment and spend some quality time with the boys instead. It’s not everyday when I can do that and I’m very fortunate to be able to that some days. So today I did and it was glorious.

I randomly woke up at 4:55 am this morning. The alarm was set for 5:00 am, so I just got up and went for it.

I thought I would be more tired than I was for the run this morning. I set a goal to do 10 miles at an 8:00/mile pace.

2014-10-22 05.24.44

I felt pretty good though once I started and decided to try a little progression run since quite a few of you said you liked to do them with our little run chat the other day.

I think the only time I actually used to do them was when I was really pressed for time and needed to be off the treadmill at a certain time at the gym. Ha.

I started at a 8:00/min mile pace (7.5 MPH) for the first few miles and then added 0.1 MPH every mile for the last 7 miles.

2014-10-22 05.43.52

The last mile was at 7:19/mile pace and I was all smiles when I was done with that business before 7:00 am.

2014-10-22 06.46.132014-10-22 06.46.19

I taught a spin class this morning too, which flew by for some reason. Maybe it was because I had some Kenny Loggins on my playlist. Ha ha.

So yeah, last night we did it. After asking to borrow a roll of paper towels from Mom (who does that?), I decided it was time for a Costco overhaul.

We took a couple of much needed deep breaths before going.

2014-10-21 17.29.03

Yes, I took reinforcements with me.

2014-10-21 17.59.02 HDR

Since it was a group effort, I only took one picture of a fun find there.

2014-10-21 18.14.59

I can’t wait to try this Apothic Dark out though. We love Apothic Red and I bet this is even better.

We made it out alive with not just one cart, but two.

2014-10-21 18.59.292014-10-21 18.59.33

We were exhausted. Seriously, Costco just makes me so darn tired. It’s a workout in itself. Hopefully we won’t have to go back for awhile.

Today after we made a fashion statement at the gym

2014-10-22 09.44.03

and Joaquin decided to detail the back of my car seat a bit,

2014-10-22 10.25.53

we got some bike riding in.

2014-10-22 10.32.07

Actually, I walked, they biked.

They are opposites on the bike. Joaquin takes off and rides so darn fast while Judah is very cautious and rides at a very steady, slow speed. I think he gets that from me, I’m so careful and cautious all the time.

Random question for you parents out there:

When do we take training wheels off? Do we just lift them up a little bit first? How do you know when they’re ready for that?

Oops. I guess that’s three questions.

We got home from all our activities and were ready for lunch. Luckily we got these really cool HALF TIME™ pre-packed lunch kits from Applegate.

We received these kits to help with the whole lunch-packing dread parents have for school lunches. I don’t mind packing lunches, but having healthy convenient, pre-packed lunches is definitely a treat.

Since we were sent three lunches in our kit and the boys were overly excited about them (as you can see above), we got into one of them today.

Yes, they were super excited to pick out their lunch for today and I’m really excited to be able to use one of the other ones for their lunches tomorrow for school.

Win win.

I’ve always avoided pre-packed lunches because of all the artificial ingredients used. I feel good about these though. It’s nice to know that there are some healthy options out there now.

Applegate has teamed up with Stonyfield and Annie’s to create the first pre-packed lunch kit with natural and organic ingredients. HALF TIME™ includes Applegate natural meats and cheeses (which have no artificial ingredients or preservatives, and are antibiotic- and hormone-free), Annie’s Homegrown crackers and snacks, and Stonyfield Organic YoKids Squeezers.

I’m pretty impressed with the lunch kits.

Not to mention it made the whole lunch prep thing today a breeze.

And what can I say, they’ve got some skill.

Ha ha.

We are all really digging this whole HALF TIME™ thing. The boys are already excited to be able to take their special lunches to school tomorrow to show their friends and I’m especially excited for a few extra minutes in the morning (every minute counts).

What we’re really excited about though is to be able to give away a fun HALF TIME™ to one of you!

Oh heck yes.

One reader will win a HALF TIME™ kit that includes:

– All three varieties of HALF TIME: Turkey & Cheese, Ham & Cheese, and Bologna & Cheese

– A draw-your-own lunch bag

– A set of permanent markers

– Coupons

– Activity book

All you have to do is leave me a comment here on the blog.

Giveaway will be open until Friday, October 24th at 11:59pm PST. Winner will be randomly chosen from comments below and announced Saturday. Open to US residents only.

I refuse to give my kids those other lunch kids and we love Applegate around here. These would be perfect!

These are so cool! All they had when I was a kid was those gross lunchables, which my mom refused to buy!

I always pack my kids lunches. I cringe when I look at the school menu each month. I have had my eye on these Half Time kits! My daughter loves Lunchables but I hate buying them. We love Applegate products!

I really despise packing lunches for some reason…my kids are picky, so I feel like I’m doing it all the time, and packing the same things too. This is such a great idea!

  7. 7

Omg I saw those in the store!!! I thought they were the cutest!

  8. 8

OMG, are those gluten free too?! I struggle so hard to find quick and easy lunches to grab on the go that aren’t crazy expensive! I’m a 90’s child (okay fine, I was born in ’86!), and my dad ALWAYS packed me Lunchables cuz he was too lazy to make me lunch! Now that I’m a (somewhat) adult, I cringe at the nastiness of those – but I still LOVE the concept! I love Applegate AND Annie’s too! Where can I get these?!

  9. 9

I have a love hate relationship with packing lunches! I love that I can feed them healthy food even while they’re out of the house, yet I’m always overwhelmed packing 3 lunches and wishing I had ordered school lunch! They each get pizza day one day a week though, and I’m always a little relieved before that. My mom always tried to pack me healthy stuff but gave in and let me buy around 3rd grade I think.

  10. 10

I hate packing lunches for work but I always feel better and more accomplished at life when I do. 🙂

Not gonna lie…I’d keep these for me (: Though maybe donate/share some of the activity stuff and maybe even treats.

My mom would never have let me have these though back then I don’t think they were even available but these look much healthier than some of the other ones I’ve seen….win, win!

I pack my son’s lunch. Most days I don’t mind packing, but come Friday I am one happy mama when the lunch bag can get put away for a few days! I think these are a great “I need something fast” choice- Could have used one this morning when I told my son he could buy today because I forgot to pack his lunch!

Ugh, I dread packing lunches!! But I am always so creative with them, I cut out cool shapes and designs out of cheese, sandwiches, and fruit. I do it the day before to save time. But I wish I didnt have to pack lunches at all. These look awesome ad healthy and I would love to have these!!

I’m not sure they even had lumchables when I was a kid…..I’m that old! Lol
But even if they did, my mom never would have bought them. We were on tight budgets (5 kids) so it was always packing lunches for all of us. I didn’t mind, I’m sure they were way better. I usually pack my daughters lunch the night before. Sometimes I’ll make our own version of a lunchable….some sliced cheese, turkey and some wheat crackers that she can put together. She loves that so she’d probably love these too!

I don’t mind packing lunches as long as I’ve planned enough time to do so; however, it’s no fun to do when you’re running late.

Lunchables were just coming into popularity when I was a kid, but my parents only bought them once in a blue moon.

Proud mother of a 10-year-old girl and 6-year-old boy. They always ask for Lunchables when we’re at the store and I just won’t do it. Please help me become a nice mom. 😉 Thank you so much for the chance to win!

  37. 37
    Laura says:

I am really happy to see there’s a healthier alternative to the pre-packaged lunches !
Some mornings it just isn’t happening with a packed lunch at our house, but I just can’t buy Lunchables even though I am sure the kids would love it !

  38. 38
    Lindsay K says:

I only pack lunches for myself right now since my son hasn’t started school yet. I remember thinking lunchables were so cool when I was in school…now if I had to eat them for lunch I’d be sad 🙁

  39. 39

Well I don’t have kids (other than my man child) as I like to refer to him 🙂 I pack both our lunches every day! My husband is a farmer and currently in the middle of harvesting. I’m having to pack him lunch and dinner now as he normally doesn’t get home until super late, since he’s in the field all night long. These would be an awesome thing to pack him for dinner!! Something that would easily fit in his work cooler and easy to eat while he’s driving the combine!!!

    But anyway. 🙂
Those lunches actually look pretty good. It was a rare, Rare occasion that my mom would buy us Lunchables. And then it would only be one to eat as a weekend lunch treat!
