Didn’t Want You To Miss Out- Halloween Festivities, Core Work, Running Inspiration and Win an Entry to the Phoenix Marathon

How was your Halloween?

Ours looked a little something like this.

photo 1

Actually, that was from a couple of days ago and there was since a costume return because of a wardrobe malfunction.

So it looked a little like this instead.

photo 3

How cool  are the “Strongest Man in the World” and the “Muscle Ninja”? I mean, right? Yeah, the belt buckle even says “Strongest Man in the World”. Ha ha.

There was no way we were missing out on all the fun with the cousins.

Hope you all had a good one!

Moving on…..

I read an article the other day about how important core work is for runners. I couldn’t agree more.

I just posted one of my favorite moves to end class with last week. In this article he does something pretty similar.

The Best Core Exercises For Proper Running Form from Competitor Running.

The other day I tried one of the best core exercises, the scissors, on the BOSU at the end of class. This move is really great just on it’s own on the floor, but man was it hard on the BOSU.

I made a little video. Not the greatest and you can tell it’s not easy for me, but hey, that just means I have to do it more often, right?

Most likely when you read this I’ll be in route to the TCS New York Marathon with CocoaVia, I thought we could all ues a little running motivation and a chance to win an entry to a race.

Yes?

Yes.

Here’s a great article from my running coach friend, Dr. Jason Karp.

Top Six Things You Don’t Know About Running

I really like number 1 since I don’t stretch.

And…… two ladies I’m routing for this weekend are Kara Goucher and Deena Kastor.

This weekend is Kara’s comeback race after being side-lined with injuries and having to withdraw from last year’s New York Marathon. I hope she makes one heck of a comeback. Here’s the article.

I’ve always admired Deena and love that she’s in her 40’s, a mom and just still doing her thing sand breaking master’s records. She’s running the full Sunday too and I hope she breaks even more records.

The article on her upcoming race is here.

Not related to the New York Marathon, but this is one heck of an inspirational story about Larise Elaine who just became the new 50-mile National Champion. Just four years ago she was just a recreational runner. Pretty darn incredible. Her article is here.

I love this quote from CocoaVia also that I saw on twitter the other day.

IMG_4989

How awesome is that?

I’ve definitely been going from failure to failure, but I better not lose my enthusiasm. I don’t like to call them failures anyway, they’re all learning experiences, right?

And, with that……..

I’m already making big plans for 2015. I’m in survival mode for the time being to get through this year, but next year is going to be epic.

One new race that I’ve always wanted to get to, but have never had the chance to race is the

BMO Harris Bank Phoenix Marathon

photo

All the cool kids and quite a few of my running friends run it. Next year I get to run it with them. Yay!Check it out, I’m already picturing myself there with EMZ and Christina.
