The Hard Part, Bringing a Little Bit of the City Back and High Maintenance

The Hard Part, Bringing a Little Bit of the City Back and High Maintenance

I can’t figure out which part is harder after getting back after a marathon weekend. It’s a combination of being physically and mentally tired from both the race and travel, dealing with the post-race blues, trying to get caught up with work and home stuff and above all else just wanting to send as much time as possible with the boys and secretly hope the rest will just go away or get done on it’s own. It’s just all a bit messy.

That being said though, family time has been the number one priority.

Yesterday we had a a family adventure. Funny how they always either start out or end with food. Ha. We did up Panera and I still love their Thai Chicken Salad. It’s so good.

For all you locals, the San Diego Botanical Gardens are free to enter the first Tuesday of every month. We’re all about free family fun.

OOTD was my marathon shirt with some Pro Compression legging pants (they’re still on sale and you can still use code STUFT14 for 40% off by the way).

It was a good night.

It got even better when we took a family trip to Trader Joe’s.

Check out what they have there right now.

Yep. Those pears are totally worth the price (in my opinion).

Our outing adventures led to an impromptu movie night.

Obviously we watched Elf. We had to show they boys where we just were and everything. Bringing a little bit of the city home.

Speaking of, this morning I woke up to this.

So precious, right?

Oh and I finally had a little extra time to go over some new songs for my spin classes and put together some stuff at home.

Heck yes I added Taylor Swift’s “welcome to New York” to the list and used it in class today. It’s a good climbing song with some spots to add gear and climb out of the saddle.

Everyone’s pretty high maintenance at the moment, myself included.

But, these guys have me on my toes and are very needy since Mommy and Daddy were gone.

Here’s just a couple of things going down.

Just in case you need a closer look at the shirts.

Just lovely.

Someone lost her legs today too.

Again, lovely.

Oh these guys.

At least the eats haven’t been too high maintenance. The snack of choice has been Love Grown Foods Power O’s either in a bowl with milk

or mixed with organic yogurt.

One of my many random snacks of the day today was a STUFT egg-rito with chicken apple sausage and the Trader Joe’s power greens blend.

Off to get some things done before finding time later tonight for the race recap. I can only write those novels when it’s really quiet and I’m by myself. That’s just not happening anytime soon.

Before I go, I saw this on Instagram today and love it! I so needed to read it right when I did.

Enjoy those silly boys….they will be on phones, instagram, twitter, snapchat etc…before you know it…and a little five letter word…”girls”…..will take up mommy time too. I am sure you have heard it a million times (as I have too) but it really does go so fast and then they grow up…and no more “Big Dude” shirts or cowboy boots and pi’s….well, then again you never know!!

I’ve always felt the post race blues after a marathon, and I can imagine with a big one like NYC and the traveling it’s even more pronounced. Looks like some typical stuff that goes on in my house as well, someone is always writing on themselves, a piece of furniture, or the walls 😉

    1. That salad looks amazing
    2. Your boys shirts are hilarious
    3. Totally normal to spend that much money on pears
    4. I love Elf and Taylor Swift!

The hardest thing for me after a marathon is to take it easy and to not immediately sign up for another race… I usually end up doing both. oops.

The hardest thing for me after a race is finding a balance between resting for recovery and becoming a total lazy-ass.

Your morning wake up was adorable! Looks like the boys are keeping you busy 😉
