Why I’m Sore and the Best Video I’ve Ever Seen

Why I’m Sore and the Best Video I’ve Ever Seen

My workout yesterday was teaching my normal Wednesday morning spin class followed by a short little 5 miles on the treadmill.

2014-11-12 10.19.28

It was just like old times and I caught a little bit of The View. They’ve got a whole new group of ladies on there don’t they?

The boys really wanted to show you their OOTD from yesterday, so here you go.

Since they decided to step it up a notch, I did too and put my slippers on immediately following my workout.

I should really be writing a fashion blog. Let’s forget all this running and food business. Ha.

After all the journal talk the other day, I bit the bullet and ordered one of the famous Erin Condren life planners. I’ve heard so many good things about these planners. I’m not sure if they’re just trendy or if they’re really that great, but I guess I’ll find out. It was a hefty price for a planner, but I figure that will just really put the pressure on to use it and have everything in life organized. Ha.

We’ve been doing the whole Trader Joe’s frozen food thing the past couple of nights. When we were there the other day we discovered this new kale, sweet potato and butternut squash pizza.

2014-11-11 18.47.40

Oh my goodness is it good. That along with the roasted vegetable one are my absolute favorites. The boys loved the kale one too. Yay!

I’m still going with the whole “not having a plan” thing for the next two weeks, but I did get motivated last night to look at what kind of training plan I’m going to use leading up to the Boston 2 Big Sur Challenge in 2015.

I love this book, Running a Marathon For Dummies, written by my running coach friend, Dr. Jason Karp.

2014-11-12 21.36.46

He’s written some other great books on running also, but this one is my favorite. It’s really easy to follow (hence the title) and has different 20 week training programs for any fitness level. I really like the science and systematic approach behind the training cycles because of his doctor background. I’m planning on following it this time around.

If you buy the book directly from his website here, he even signs it for you and 10% of the sales goes to Susan G. Komen for the Cure in memory of his mother.

SO, my plan is to officially start a training plan for Boston on November 24th. Until then though, I’m just taking things days by day and loving the extra sleep time and just having a little less pressure on myself.

I did wake up abnormally sore this morning though. Here’s why.

2014-11-13 06.36.13

Yep. We did it. The boys and I bought a bunk bed yesterday from Craigslist. Then we called Daddy and told him he got to help us pick it up an put it together.

After an extremely long afternoon and night and after to assemble and reassemble the set up three times to make it fit in the bedroom, the boys have a new bed.

Things are changing over here friends. Ha.

The sandwiches this week have been SunButter and jelly ones.

I randomly came up with this drink this morning. I needed a little something before taking the boys to school and going for a run so I put Vega Sport pre-workout and egg whites together with a little spinach to make a pretty darn delicious green protein juice drink.

2014-11-13 08.16.07

Mmm hmm….

2014-11-13 08.20.48

I didn’t really measure anything, but I think there was about a 1/2 cup of egg whites in there with a handful of spinach and a scoop of Vega and then I filled the rest with some water. Have you tried drinking egg whites yet?

The boys had a fun run today at school. I thought it would be a good idea to run to meet them at their run and then run a bit with them.

And this guy, I mean he usually doesn’t love these things, but he was all business today and wanted as many laps as possible.

After their little run I went on my way to run home. Just a few miles today at about a 11 minute mile pace (counting the time I ran with the boys). Loved it.

I’m leaving you with this video our friend Ken made. Um……. obviously he has a videographer background, but this video just melts my heart.

Life is good friends.

Hope you’re having a great week!

You’ll LOVE the Erin Condren! I hope I was one of the peeps that suggested it. I love love love mine. I’m about to buy my 4th one. But price point makes me put it off. However, I’m quickly running out of time and will have to bite the bullet soon here. I never regret it though and truly get tons of use out of it. Enjoy! I can’t wait to hear how you like it.

Wow! That bunk bed looks so awesome! I wish my little brother and I had something like that when we were young (but ours was the kind where the bottom of the frame looks like a row of drawers but it’s another mattress… so boring to us, haha).

Hi! Love the blog & your recipes!! I’m usually shy of commenting, but thought I should mention to anyone reading: if you choose to consume egg whites, make sure you do so with cooked or pasteurised ones. Consumed raw ‘a-la-Rocky’, they can cause biotin deficiency (which leads to vitamin absorption problems) as the undenatured avidin in raw egg whites will bind to much of the biotin in your body and reduce its bioavailability. Egg whites from a tub are usually safe, but if they are straight from the eggs then they need to be heated!

I saw that pizza at TJ the other day and thought it looked delicious! I need to develop a grain-free version. And I rock my fuzzy slippers all the time! They were Ugg hand me downs and the best ever. They are on their last leg though and it makes me a little sad.
