Never Too Early For Holiday Snow Days at LEGOLAND

Never Too Early For Holiday Snow Days at LEGOLAND

No workout to report from yesterday. It wasn’t a planned day off, but it just happened that way. I actually wanted to get a run in first thing in the morning, but I slept in too late and we had too many things to do. I’m taking this “off time” very seriously. Ha.

I did get on the treadmill this morning for some Saturday miles before boot camp.

Random, but I’ve been having this as my snack a lot this week so thought I’d share.

2014-11-20 07.59.36

I know it might not look the great, but Trader Joe’s Smoked Chardonnay Chicken and Apple Sausage and sliced Jazz apples go great together.

Oh and one more quick random note, I’m just now having to charge my Fitbit Charge for the first time after wearing it all week as part of the challenge. That’s a pretty long battery life.

Yesterday we had the opportunity to go check out the special Holiday Snow Days at LEGOLAND California that officially start today.

We’ve actually all been counting down for this event since we were last at LEGOLAND for Brick or Treat.

The first thing on our agenda was to go ice skating.

2014-11-21 11.43.472014-11-21 12.16.09

Oh yes. They totally brought it a special ice skating rink for the occasion. How cool is that?

2014-11-21 11.54.13

The boys got to show off their skills while I stayed nice and close to the special seal helper things. Luckily Judah was all about hitching rides so I had a good excuse.

2014-11-21 11.56.21

It was a full family affair.

2014-11-21 11.56.422014-11-21 11.56.51

I tried to trade places with Judah once, but he really didn’t like that idea.

2014-11-21 12.00.13 HDR

Go figure. Ice skating LEGO people make me happy.

2014-11-21 12.09.16

We went inside afterwards for a little sampling of the special menu they have available for the holidays.

2014-11-21 12.27.50

If you’re out of town and making the trip to LEGOLAND you should definitely stay at the LEGOLAND Hotel.

2014-11-21 12.32.372014-11-21 12.45.32

We got to stay there once at the Grand Opening and they boys have been begging to go back ever since.

Here’s the special menu.

2014-11-21 12.54.40

I didn’t take picture of all the food, just the wraps.

2014-11-21 12.49.21

Naturally we were pretty pumped about the s’mores kit.

2014-11-21 12.53.16

Joaquin likes to light his marshmallows on fire, Judah is very careful to not let it touch the flame at all.

2014-11-21 13.37.532014-11-21 13.30.402014-11-21 13.30.19 HDR2014-11-21 13.33.142014-11-21 13.33.36 HDR

We also got a really cool LEGO holiday magnet. Can’t wait to put that together. Only 48 pieces? I think we can handle that.

2014-11-21 13.36.39

The best question ever Joaquin asked the pirate LEGO man after a giant hug was “Why are you so cozy?”

2014-11-21 13.41.50

We headed inside the park to check out what the other holiday happenings were. We had to do the usual roller coaster loops.

2014-11-21 14.00.572014-11-21 14.02.18

The boys already had a plan to convince us to let them try the Raptor Climb.

2014-11-21 14.07.162014-11-21 14.09.50 HDR

It didn’t take much to convince us, especially because everyone is a winner.

2014-11-21 14.11.28 HDR

Obviously I felt the need to try it. How hard can it be to stay on a darn rope ladder, right? STUFT Daddy was told not to take any pictures of my attempts.

He listens well.

2014-11-21 14.12.14 HDR2014-11-21 14.12.32 HDR

I was not successful, but I do kind of want one of these rope ladders in our yard now.

2014-11-21 14.17.20

I’ve always wanted to go on the Sky Cruiser, but the line is usually too long. It was finally short yesterday so we went for it.

2014-11-21 14.33.05 HDR

It wasn’t as exciting as I thought it would be.

On our way to check out the holiday set up, the boys got a little distracted with the LEGO ladies again. Funny how that always happens.

2014-11-21 14.39.27 HDR2014-11-21 14.40.11 HDR

The Holiday Snow Days were awesome.

2014-11-21 14.41.092014-11-21 14.40.32

First up was tubing.

2014-11-21 14.42.142014-11-21 14.47.57

They loved it so much they had to go twice.

2014-11-21 14.57.55

Then we moved on to the area where we could just play in the snow.

2014-11-21 15.01.55

They have an area set up to throw snowballs at targets.

2014-11-21 15.01.572014-11-21 15.09.16

You can build your own snowman.

2014-11-21 15.02.42

That one was already there, but here’s our masterpiece.

2014-11-21 15.10.01

They even have a little sledding hill set up.

2014-11-21 15.05.27

Just the right size.

2014-11-21 15.06.21

So yeah, our first family trip to the snow was at LEGOLAND.

2014-11-21 15.07.18 HDR

It was a blast.

2014-11-21 15.12.052014-11-21 15.14.48

WI hit up one quick ride on the way out called The Dragon.

2014-11-21 15.31.54

I had no idea it was there, but it is now my favorite ride. It is one heck of a fun roller coaster. You must find it.

So, yes, Holiday Snow Days are a blast. They go from 11/22-1/4.

2014-11-21 15.54.29 HDR

We might have to make a special trip back to find out what the Winter Nights are all about. There’s nightly tree lighting, shows, lights and fireworks on certain nights.

You can find out all the details about Holiday Snow Days HERE.

There are special upgrade options if you are already a annual pass holder and I do know if you want to ice skate to have to reserve your time slot ahead of time. Just FYI.

Oh, and something really cool they’re doing is giving each paid ticket an additional park ticket to be able to come back next year between 1/5-3/1. How cool is that?

2014-11-21 15.54.35 HDR

Okay, so that’s wrap. Holiday Snow Days at LEGOLAND are a blast. Add a trip to your “to do” list.

Time to get on my home chore “to do” list. Ha.

Have a wonderful weekend!

What holiday family events do you have planned?

Where was your first family trip to the snow? (LEGOLAND counts as ours, right?)

Wait….what kind of “snow” is that in San Diego that you can make snowballs and snowmen without wearing winter gear?

I used to always slightly burn my marshmallows too plus I would use candles if the fireplace wasn’t lit. Still love things slightly burnt too.

    Fun, fun, fun!

That looks very cute but I just can’t imagine not seeing REAL SNOW or sledding down an actual hill….YES, even I the bearer of Winter weather dread from MN….can’t imagine “fake” snow.

However, just because I can’t imagine it doesn’t me I would LOVE to try living without it and simply playing with the fake stuff….ha!

Here in NH we have an amusement park called Santa’s Village. It’s up in the mountains and stays open during the holidays. Going there at Christmas time is the most amazing, magical, cold experience. It really feels like you’re at the North Pole (especially the first time we went, I think Girlie was 4 or 5). We go every year and I love it, even though I usually hate being cold.

That looks like so much fun!

I like to burn the outer layer of the marshmallow, take that part off and eat it and then burn the next layer 🙂

That looks like so much fun! Hopefully, we can take a family trip out there next year! I think my little guy is too young to appreciate it right now 🙂

It looks like you guys have a great family day! Love th pictures with all4 of you.

I have a question for you. I ran an half marathon yesterday and the weather was rainy and the wind blowing directly at me. For the first 9.5 miles I was on my pace of 8.06 however from 10 – 13.1 my outer hips just ached and felt like that wanted to stop. It was a struggle to continue. Of course I finished but was 5 minutes off from my normal finish time.

Have you ever experienced this and how do you overcome it and then prevent it in the future.

Thanks for any input you have! Jenny
