Finding the Time, Run-Fit Specialist and Some Throw Back STUFT Holiday Videos

 

I have been saving a lot of time not taking pictures of food and not working out so much during the day. I had to give up quite a few of my classes with this new job and such. It’s actually been really nice just fitting in what I can on my own in the wee hours of the morning and then that’s it.

Today I ran six treadmill miles in Boston thanks to iFit.

Not only did I get to run in Boston, but I also got to watch one of my all time favorites.

My run brought back a few memories from the Boston Marathon and man am I ever excited to get there again in 2015.

So yeah, this time of year is hard for a lot of people to try to fit in workouts. Everyone is busy and stressed with other things going on. I’m struggling with adjusting to my new schedule and trying to fit in enough cross training. I never had to worry about it before because I was teaching so many classes.

I threw in a couple moves today after my run and this push up with an alternating one arm row in a killer. I definitely have a love/hate relationship with it. Man does it work a lot of different muscles though.

Obviously I made a video at 5:00 am so you can see the move in action.

Nothing like waking up with a few of these.

 

I’m all about getting as much as I can done in the least amount of time these days. Any combination moves like this help.

Speaking of, everyone else who might be in the same boat with finding it difficult to find the time to workout right now, it’s good to try to keep on a schedule and plan things out ahead of time. Sometimes you only need 15-20 minutes.

I’m actually really lucky right now to be working with Coach Jason and him having me run less miles at the moment. I’m doing a pretty good job of listening.

He’s a doctor and knows his stuff so I trust him. He offers a Run-Fit SpecialistTM course that is open to anyone to become more knowledgeable about designing training programs for themselves or clients and a wealth of other information.

You’ll learn:

* Specific workouts to increase VO2max, raise the lactate threshold, and improve running economy
* How to design and periodize training programs for runners
* Proper running technique
* The secrets of avoiding running-related injuries
* Important training concepts to help your clients

 

I’ve always wanted to become a certified running specialist, but with all these other changes at the moment I better just wait on that and put my training schedule and program in the professional’s hands. I mean, I burned a frozen pizza tonight for goodness sakes.

 

Before I get to some really awesome throw back holiday videos, I thought I’d show you our excitement for the day.

I don’t have any fun food to share. I did manage to burn a frozen pizza though. Lovely.

Things started out pretty much the same.

One of our main goals over the next few days is to make a few new fun sweaters for these guys. I can’t wait.

I’m hoping to use the weekend to do the Christmas card thing since we’re already behind. I’ve decided against holiday baking this year, but we’ve got to do some fun cards with our new additions.

    You are awesome and I just love your willingness to be goofy and go with the flow!! Your workout video with the kids running all over and climbing on top of you was pretty great. Your dance moves were also impressive. Clearly the boys get it from their mama. 🙂

    Need advice…I just won a month’s membership to a Gold’s gym and have no idea how to get started. I haven’t used a gym in years and am in really, really bad shape as in skinny, no muscle weak. I know I need to start light and would love to maybe start some toning. Should I try a class (though there don’t seem to be any just for strength training) or try figure out the machines.

    Please help/advise and yes, I know you aren’t certified for it but I won’t hold you to it (:

    LOVE While You Were Sleeping – LOVE!!! Watched it so many times!

    I am lucky for my 24 hour gym that lets me work out when I need to…

    I so love the kitty/boy pics – AND the throw backs!!! 🙂

    I think push-ups with rows are brutal!!! I do cross training on the days I don’t run since I can’t run every day anymore.
