Bed Heads, a Pro Meet Up, Be YOUR Best, Upcoming Races and Mermaid Half Marathon Race Entry GIVEAWAY

Bed Heads, a Pro Meet Up, Be YOUR Best, Upcoming Races and Mermaid Half Marathon Race Entry GIVEAWAY

Whoa today has been long.

For all of us.

2015-01-15 07.34.02-1

Lovely, yes? They dressed themselves for school today and I’m really trying hard for the mother of the year award with the whole sporting the bed head to school thing.

Please don’t judge.

I started the day sweating on the treadmill for 8 easy miles and finished it sweating up a storm teaching a spin class.

2015-01-15 18.37.20

I got a little assistance after class wiping down my bike form that cute guy behind me.

No great food highlights to share today, but I did pick up this Casi Cielo coffee from Starbucks the other day and it is pretty awesome.

2015-01-15 04.52.46

I grind the benas and set the coffee maker up right before getting on the treadmill in the morning and then look forward to the hot coffee being ready for my entire run. Ha.

I heard a really great little inspirational pep talk today from a former NFL/ Superbowl winner.

2015-01-15 08.27.03

He actually did me a huge favor with some flag football stuff since I’m coaching a team.

But, the best part of his little inspirational talk was to be YOUR best. He said don’t be “the best” because you won’t be. Not everyone is the best at something, but you can be “your best” at anything.

Gotta love that. It doesn’t matter what you do, be YOUR best. I’m going to work on that. I’m also going to work on helping others whenever I get a chance. I’m feeling the need to do more good these days.

Okay, well, I finally kind of have a schedule in place with some upcoming races although mentally I feel like I’m so far out of the racing seen I’m a little nervous. I just don’t have racing on the brain these days, but maybe I need a race to get my mojo back? Or heck, maybe I’m just getting old. Who the heck knows.

But, I’m going to do my best to give these races a go and reevaluate afterwards.

I actually have two races this weekend. The Kid’s Marathon Mile at LEGOLAND and the Carlsbad Marathon. This was my very first marathon and I’ve run it a total of 4 times. Last year’s recap is here. I’m 99% sure I’m just running the half for way too many reasons to list on here.

Speaking of the Carlsbad Marathon, my friend Smitha and I will be at the Pro Compression booth for a quick meet up and sock giveaway at the race expo at 11:00 am.

2015-01-14 21.11.29

So you know, if you’re around and want to come say hi and try to win some socks come visit us. They boys will be there too and they’ll be recovering from their mile race, so the little meet up will be snappy.

In other race news I just read this article from Runner’s World on 10 Editor-Approved Marathons for 2015. The only one I’ve run is The TCS New York City Marathon. Now I have 9 new ones on my bucket list.

The next full marathon I have coming up is the BMO Harris Bank Phoenix Marathon. I’ve heard so many great things about this race and so many people are going. It’s almost sold out, so if there’s a chance you want to join the fun you can use code STUFT10 for 10% off any of the races.

Make sure to let me know if you’ll be there because I’ll hunt you down. Ha.

As a Rock ‘n’ Blog Ambassador I get a Tourpass 3-Pack. I finally registered for it last night and the only race I know for sure is the SUJA San Diego Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon. I’m still figuring out my other two.

I also registered for the Mermaid Half Marathon San Diego on February 7th. I ran it last year and won an entry to this year’s race. It’s super fun, flat, fast, small and geared towards women and their daughters. It’s the perfect course for runners or walkers. I actually remember there being a lot of walkers there last year.

2014-02-08 08.40.41

Here’s what’s really cool though.

Since I won an entry I get to give it away to one of you. Heck yes.

You can also register using STUFTMAMA10 for 10% off any of the Mermaid races that day (1/2 marathon, 10K, 5K or 1.5 mile).

There’s a couple hours left to enter the Osmo giveaway.

And there’s four days that start right now to enter to win an entry into any of the Mermaid Half Marathon San Diego races.

Leave me a comment below to enter. Winner will be randomly chosen Sunday and announced Monday here on the blog. Giveaway open until Sunday, January 18th at 11:59 pm PST.

Hey hey. It’s almost Friday. Yay.

Oh and just thought you should know this Arctic Zero pint just went down while I was writing this.

2015-01-15 20.32.32

Yes that’s a naked kitty without a sweater because my sweaters I’ve been making last about two days so I may be giving up.

Oh and I topped my Arctic Zero Pint with some Vega homemade dark chocolate sauce and plantain chips from Trader Joe’s.

What is something you really want to be YOUR best at right now?

When is your next race if you have one?

Who am I going to see on Saturday at the Pro booth at the expo?
