Kelly and Michael Workout, Discounts and a Superhero

Kelly and Michael Workout, Discounts and a Superhero

Happy Tuesday friends! Hope your Monday went down a little like this.

Ha ha. Funny, huh?

We’re taking full advantage of this staycation so far. Instead of doing my morning workout at 4:30 am yesterday I timed it perfectly so I could watch Live With Kelly and Michael from the elliptical.

I decided to take it up a notch by doing medicine ball BOSU burpees during the commercials. I put a quick video up here.

They were tough and I still really need to work on my hip stability, but it was a fun little way to change things up. And I just have to say it really seemed like there were a few too many commercials. Ha ha.

We had a lot of house projects yesterday. In my head they’re always so easy with the boys “helping”, but that really isn’t the case. I’m not sure if we made bigger messes or actually made a little progress.

At least we have a couple more days.

Last night I taught my classes at the gym and decided to take advantage of the weight room and the stairmaster that has a TV.

If they have a calorie burner program I always choose that one so the machine does the intervals automatically for you.

I tuned out when I got home and once everyone was in bed. I have three more Parenthood episodes to go so I watched one of them last night. On the menu was paleo mac and cheese and steamed broccoli

followed my some Arctic Zero with Love Grown Foods Power O’s.

This morning I slept in a little, but got my short elliptical workout in. I had some really cute visitors towards the end.

They keep wanting to know when I get to run on the treadmill again and I told them I want to know too. I’m supposed to be able to test the waters soon, but my leg is just not ready.

A lot of things don’t hurt it (burpees, elliptical, stair climbing, jumping jacks, etc.) but the one thing that hurts so darn bad is running. The whole impact and position my body is in when my foot comes in contact with the floor is just not good. Ugh.

I’m fighting though and gosh darn it hope to be back at it slowly in the next few weeks. For now the boys will take good care of Steve (that’s the treadmill’s name).

I may be cancelling a few upcoming races, but I have my sights set on Boston and Big Sur and SUJA Rock ‘n’ Roll San Diego Marathon.

By the way, you can use code STUFTMAMA to register for ANY Rock ‘n’ Roll Marathon Series event to get $15 OFF.

The discount applies to any race, not just San Diego, but for right now that’s the one I’m registered for. I have to decide on the other two. I’m trying to convince the family to go to Seattle for the Rock ‘n’ Roll Seattle Marathon, but I’m not sure they’re all in quite yet.

Pro Compression is having a close out sale on all low socks. I wear these daily at the moment as it hasn’t been too cold here lately and I haven’t really needed the full recovery of the marathon socks. These are a great every day sock!

Enter code LOW at check out for 40% off!

Time to run, well not literally, but time to get a move on before I get the boys from school.

I’ll leave you with just a couple of things.

Joaquin’s awesome outfit of the day.

Yep, the cape, the Swhings, the tall socks, all him today. Love it.

And this little motivational quote I saw on Mizuno’s twitter feed.

Boston’s just a little more than 8 weeks away.Hopefully your injury will be better, and the snow will be melted by then. That last part may be wishful thinking!

I’m not a long time reader so don’t know how you feel about swimming. I used to play tennis a lot (loved it) and had to quit when I tore my meniscus and then had a number of complications due in part to the tear. Bottom line was that I can’t run anymore — well I can, I was just strongly advised against doing so by my ortho surgeon. Playing tennis competitively with pain became no fun so I took up marathon open water swimming. Granted I’ve always swam but recently have gotten into longer races. Since you are in CA it might be something you could do. Not trying to be rude, I realize that you love running and as someone who had to quit a sport I loved it stunk and I SO empathize … but … swim racing has been great for me.

I am in a similar boat with a tibia tendon issue – nothing bothers it..JUST RUNNING. I can do burpees, box jumps, and just about everything else that still involves the tendon but for some reason, the running motion is the ONLY motion that bothers it. I try to stay grateful that there are so many other things I can do and that I can get up and do Crossfit everyday but it’s definitely frustrating that sometimes the ONE thing you want to do, you can’t.
