A Move For Your Week, Wishes and a Halo Anti-Freeze Giveaway

Why hello.

Hope you had a fabulous weekend!

First of all a huge shout out to Mom who drove for 6 hours today to and from my best friend’s baby shower so I could get a little work done in the car. She is the best (and the reason I’m going to bed at a decent hour tonight).

Naturally I told her we had to make a Starbucks stop on the way this morning.

2015-02-22 10.13.49

Naturally I spilled coffee all down my skirt less than two minutes after taking this picture. Lovely. I got an Americano with a splash of coconut milk since that’s the whole coconut milk thing is new at Starbucks now.

The shower we went to was fancy fancy.

2015-02-22 13.07.06

Lunch was amazing and I tried endive for the first time ever.

2015-02-22 13.15.56

Cute huh? I need to find this somewhere and try to cut it all cute like this. It was delicious with hummus.

I got to see my best friends from college. It’s so weird we’ve been friends for almost 20 years now. Gosh we’re getting old. I love them and will protect their privacy and not post their pictures all over the blog.

Smile

Workouts were very limited as I’m hoping to dabble a little with running this upcoming week and ready to start focusing on getting my bootie to Boston. Yeah, it’s like 8 weeks away now, and yes, I’m starting to freak out just a bit. I WILL be at the starting line and I will be able to at least survive and make it through. If I keep telling myself that it will happen, yes?

Actually, when I went through my injury before I remember someone once telling me that if it’s in my heart, it’s something I was meant to do. It might take time to get back there, but gosh darn it it’s in my heart and I’m meant to do it.

Anyhoo…

I did a little home HIIT workout yesterday morning with a lot of plyometric moves on the BOSU. It’s definitely harder to get motivated when you’re by yourself at home, but it is really nice to wear whatever you want and no one sees you. It takes less than five minutes to get ready. I should probably try to dress it up a little more (or not use the spin bike as a drying rack) when taking pictures to post, but oh well. I like to keep it real around here. Ha ha.

2015-02-21 07.51.16

One of my one minute sets of BOSU pushups was with my elbows in to get a little more work fro the triceps. Push ups are awesome and there really are so many different variations you can do.

I’ve been trying to change things up a little with different variations of moves so this was the fun new challenge I came up with- a burpee push up with a stand on top of the black side of the BOSU. You can see I need a lot of work with the balance, but this move pretty much engages everything and is great for core stability work.

Just trying to change things up around here with some new moves.

We’ve really been trying to add more fruits and vegetables around here as of late. I’ve never really been a fruit salad person and just stick with apples since they’re so easy, but the boys and I have been all about the fruit bowl variety.

2015-02-21 10.00.18 HDR

Cinnamon makes everything better,doesn’t it?

The boys and I have had such a fun staycation week together. I’m so sad that it’s over.

2015-02-18 17.11.28_thumb

During one of our many soccer games over the week we found a dandelion and obviously had to make wishes. That’s what you do before you blow on it, right? Well, the boys thought you should hear their wishes.

(Sorry, you have to click on the link to see them or go to instagram. I’m working on simplifying things around here.) Lovely though, yes?

Okay, I’m leaving you with two things.

The first one is that the combination of these two things is brilliant and there is so much to be done with it. The new Vega One is freaking awesome and I have a fun recipe and a GIVEAWAY tomorrow so you can get your hands on this plant-based protein goodness.

2015-02-21 14.24.25

Stay tuned.

That will be the second giveaway to start the week though. There’s a little something going down today too.

Since you’ll most likely be reading this on Monday and since some of you are in really cold areas and we need to start the week off with something exciting, we’re giving away a Halo anti-freeze headband.

IMG_5137IMG_5138

I wear my normal Halo headband daily, but these are super cool because they cover your ears.

IMG_5143

We don’t need them too much in southern California, but I know a lot of you might really need this, right?

All you have to do to enter the GIVEAWAY to win a HALO anti-freeze headband is leave me a comment below and tell me what the weather is like where you are. I’ve never lived in snow and really can’t imagine it. You all are brave.

Or you can tell me one thing you’re going to do to simplify your week. I’m going to get in bed and read at least two nights instead of working late.

Giveaway is open to US residents only and run until Wednesday, February 25th at 11:59 pm PST. Winner will be announced here on the blog Thursday.

Make sure to come visit tomorrow for a super fun Vega giveaway. Woot!

Happy Monday!

Would love to try this HALO anti-freeze headband because Chicago has been freezing cold for the last two weeks. Finally got to get a 12 miler in this Saturday outside, instead of the ol’dreadmill! I will simplify my workouts during this cold, single-digit degree week by downloading some fun new songs on my ipod as I once again trudge through the dreaded treadmill!

Ok enough punny business. It’s 50 and sunny up here in Sea. I wish that our ski areas would get some snow though, things are pretty bare.

As I type this, I am about to go get ready for my first day back at work after an ENTIRE WEEK off. I work at a local university that has never shut down in it’s entire 100 year history. Needless to say, we had a week’s worth of freezing rain, snow and ice last week, and our entire city shut down. Pretty big deal for Middle Tennessee; we were also in a State of Emergency for a bit. The Halo antifreeze headband would be much welcomed!

  23. 23
    Gretchen says:

It was -30 wind chill yesterday here in Minnesota. Although chilly, there was plenty of sunshine to help me make it through my 10 mile run. I would love to win the Halo Headband to keep the sweat out of my eyes on my next run….yes I do still sweat in below freezing temps!

I’m in North Carolina, and it was super cold last week (our kitchen pipes froze!) But yesterday, the weather was perfect for our half marathon! Another PR!! In Huntington, WV it is currently cold and slushy! The large amount of snow we saw last week has turned into nature’s version of an Icee due to slightly higher temps (still below freezing) and a weird ice rain on Saturday. I’m running my first half marathon, the Rock N’ Roll DC half, in March and if their weather is anything like ours i’m sure this headband would come in handy!

Well I live close to you, in L.A. so we had some rain as you know. I have very thin hair so my head gets cold in the early a.m. no matter the weather.

To simplify things, I started prepping more veggies the day before, which is quite the task since that’s about all I eat. Next will be doing some dehydrating with my new dehydrator cookbook, so I will be prepared with some snacks on the go. Thanks for the giveaway!

  48. 48
    Ashley B. says:

Even though we live in the coldest spot in CO (I jumped up and down because the low last night was above zero), I’ve been braving my morning runs just to avoid the monotony of the indoor gym. The headband would be amazing in these chilly temps!

It’s -34902370 degrees in MN right now so I have not been running outside, but as soon as the weather improves and the sidewalks will hopefully be less icy, then this halo headband will be perfect. 59. 59
    Emily Butler says:

I’m in PA, there’s snow. YAY. But I don’t really need to win because I would really just need a HALO full body attire to actually go out and run in this weather. :) So I don’t think the headband is going to be enough…lol

To simplify my life I am trying to get more sleep. I am dealing with fatigue right now and training for a marathon in May so getting enough rest is critical. I love the halo bands.

What’s the weather like up here in New England, you ask? Frozen. Snow-filled. Tundra. That is all. I came across a bout of frostbitten toes 2 weeks ago, it’s that cold. Please send me or one of us freezing people this amazing ear warmer!
