Congrats Juls! Email me your mailing information and I’ll pass it along to our friends at Halo!

I thought I was going to be able to get a few miles on the treadmill done this morning for my workout, but my leg had other ideas. Beavis.

Oh well, I got on the elliptical for an hour and did 3 minutes at a moderate intensity with 3 minutes hard and just repeated that the entire hour.

It’s getting a little harder each morning to keep a positive outlook, but I’m determined to fight hard and I refuse to give up.

If things are working like they should right now then I have to change them, right? All of these little hurdles are a test and a test to so much more than just our physical well being.

I’m being tested daily to try to be patient. I’m working on it, but it’s never really been my thing. I’m a work in progress. Slow progress. Ha.

I really wasn’t in the mood to cook dinner last night and I didn’t want to dirty up the kitchen so I threw together some healthy snacks on a plate and called it good enough.

I discovered these corn cakes on Vitacost too. They go well with just about anything and they’re fun to eat.

I finished of this SunButter jar his afternoon with an apple and those same corn cakes pictured above.

It’s always a little bitter sweet isn’t it?

I know I can’t be the only one who really scrapes every last little bit from the jar either. Ha ha.

I added a few new spin songs to my list. Some are old ones that I’ve used forever, some are ones I’m just stuck on right now and others are recently added. Here are a couple from class tonight that I used.

Holding Out for a Hero- Bonnie Tyler- Great 6 minute song for sprints. We alternated 30 second sprints and 1 minute sprints and had 30 second recoveries each time in between. (I always like to tell everyone that the song is from the tractor scene in Footloose.)

Hands in the Air (feat. Ne-Yo)- Great climbing song with three 30 second pushes up out of the saddle when the music changes tempo.

We Found Love- Rihanna- Hard climbs out of the saddle with added gears and then seated sprints with the gears out when the music speeds up.

The Days- Avicii- Great for climbing with some pick ups.

I ended class with this song yet again. It’s the best. I freaking love it and if you didn’t watch the video the last time I put in on here, you really need to see it.

I Lived- One Republic

I could watch this a million times!

I mean, right?

Oh and someone asked or commented about the bike seat being uncomfortable. If you’re using an older spin bike, ye, the seats are not the best. It’s best to get special pants with a pad sewn in. I had a couple old pairs and love them. I don’t need them for the new fancy shmancy bikes the gym just got, but I should wear them at home for my old crusty spin bike that I’ll probably be doing more time on than I really want to. Ha. Here’s an example of the pants. Mine are so old I don’t really know what brands are the best at the moment, but you can look around or find them at specialty bike stores.

Or you can buy a padded seat cover. Actually when I went to Amazon to search for one I felt the urge to purchase one for my bike at home. This one is less than $15 so I just added it to my cart (and to my store in case it works out).

I’ll let you know if it helps at all. Currently I slip around a lot on my bike at home and it’s not very comfortable so I do a lot of things out of the saddle.

I’ve had a couple questions about what exactly my hip pain feels like and what my red flags and symptoms were when I first went to the doctor before discovering I had a pituitary tumor. I’ll get to those in a little post over the weekend, but for now it’s time for a little shut eye.

I’m not about to skimp on sleep these days.

I’m making some changes to hopefully start taking some bigger steps towards healing and recovery. Sometimes it takes more than just patience, but some trial and error too.

When something isn’t working I’m so not someone to sit down and decided that that’s that. I’m not doing enough to be proactive at the moment about recovery so I’m on it.

If it’s not working, you try to figure out why and focus more on finding what WILL work.

Totally not related to injury or healing, but this guy has a really hard time sitting with all of us at the dinner table for anything longer than 2 minutes.

Yeah. This was during dinner time.

I don’t usually have my phone close by when we’re eating dinner, but I just happen to have it to capture this. So something isn’t really working here and we’re going to focus on that issue too.

Smile

Have a wonderful Friday and a great weekend!

We’re actually supposed to get a big storm coming in and I’m pretty excited to bundle up and stay inside with some rainy, cold weather. Maybe it will help me get taxes done.

Or not.

Ha ha.

I love love that song by one republic. I actually dedicated it to my daughter so, every time I hear it I think of her. 🙂

Kristin, I empathize with you so much right now. I know it’s not easy wanting to run & having your body resist. I live my life with an attitude that everything happens for a reason. I know you’re a woman of faith so, I hope there’s comfort in knowing that God has a plan. We have to trust in him & keep that faith. When one door closes another one opens. We all saw how strong you came back after your first setback so, I feel that you’ll come back even stronger after this one. I admire your consistency with your cross-training & strength. You know how to keep a great base of fitness so, when you get the green light to kick up some dust you will be ready!! 🙂
