Have You Met the RRS Shoe Dog?

My brain is all over the place. We’re leaving in less than 48 hours for Boston. I feel like barfing and haven’t started packing. Ahhhh……

Let’s talk about other things, shall we?

Breakfast lately has looked a little like this.

Two overly happy boys and at least three different mini boxes of Love Grown Foods Power O’s. Who wants to come over?

I got the opportunity early this week to visit our local Road Runner Sports store.

2015-04-14 09.55.23

I actually used to frequent the store quite a bit at was a VIP member. This was where my first pair of Mizuno shoes were purchased years ago. Funny, huh?

Well, the other day I got to go through the whole experience with an evaluation of my running and custom inSouls and everything. I went through this years ago before I really started running that often so I was curious as to how things had changed.

2015-04-14 09.58.47

I got set up with my running expert quickly.

2015-04-14 09.59.072015-04-14 09.59.15

We went through the whole computer questionnaire to see what my preferences were and everything.

2015-04-14 10.00.58

Then we got to take a closer look at my feet. Yikes. I should have done my nails or something. Ha ha.

2015-04-14 10.02.42

Wit the 3D reading, my feet actually aren’t as flat as I thought.

2015-04-14 10.03.40

He did say that I probably wear out the heels of my shoes quicker than other areas which is true.

2015-04-14 10.06.41

After the video analysis we took a closer look at my form to determine the right kind of shoe.

Turns out I’m running in the right kind of shoe. Yay.

M poor new friend had to touch my feet for quite some time to fit my custom insoles.

2015-04-14 10.10.15

They totally shape them to your foot and everything though. I’ve never really run with insoles or anything so I’m excited to give these custom ones a try.

Here’s a view from when I was getting fitted.

2015-04-14 10.11.50

I was really thinking about these people that have to touch everyone’s feet. I guess they get used to it, but man I was feel bad that he had to handle my cold sweaty feet. Ha ha.

Once the analysis was done we went to the stability shoe wall.

2015-04-14 10.22.17

I confessed that I love Mizuno shoes, but agreed to try on a few other brands just because. Gosh they have a lot of options out there.

I decided on the Mizuno Wave Paradox as my pair I got to take home.

My new best friend, Joey, who was so patient with me said they would be a great everyday shoe with extra cushioning to add in the mix with running in the Inspires and Sayonaras.

2015-04-14 10.52.28

I walked out of there all smiles.

Ha ha.

Seriously though, if you haven’t gotten a running analysis Road Runner Sports does it all for free and helps you find the right shoe for you. I was impressed with the service.

They also do all kinds of fun stuff like specials for VIP members and local adventure runs.

Oh and I was really excited when I spotted my favorite Handful Bra there. Heck yes. I wanted to tell everyone that they’re the best bra ever, but I held back.

We leave tomorrow for Boston. I should probably start packing. Um……….

Have you ever had a running analysis to know what kind of shoes are right for you?

Do you wear insoles?

Where do you buy your running shoes?

Those look a lot like the Paradox and not the Prophecy.

Love Road Runner Sports :) Would love if they had their store here rather than relying on receiving their catalogs! lol

This sounds wonderful.. how long did the whole process take you to get analyzed and fitted?

We don’t have a Road Runner Sports – I actually order most of my shoes because I like Mizuno the best and no place here has a big selection.

    Yep, done the Shoe Dog
    Bought the insoles
Actually changed the shoe size I had been ordering. I love to buy online so this was something I’d been missing.
Now, with the right sizes, buying online again:)

I’m surprised they put in a stability shoe. You’ll have to let me know how they feel. Seriously… i love my sayonaras and mizu-hitos… both neutral shoes. Get packing!

I just hit up RRS and Shoe Dog a few weeks ago. I have been running in Brooks, but needed more support because apparently my arches are as high as the Empire State building! They put me in the Transcend 2. Its really cushy :)

    Have fun in Boston ;)

That is amazing! I have never had a foot analysis for shoes before, but makes complete sense and I need to do that pronto! Oh man, though, I definitely need a pedicure before I get one. Thanks for the heads up!

That’s where I used to get my shoes when we lived in SD! I always bought the same (now discontinued) shoe for years before we moved to Nor Cal and I was forced to order them online. Now we live in Colorado and I get all my running needs met at Runner’s Roost- I even worked there for a little over a year. Maybe I could be a RRS Buddy? Ha. I know too much now and sometimes distract myself at races by watching people’s footstrikes- it’s seriously nerdy to know that most people are in the wrong shoe. I really encourage everyone to get a gait analysis done, esp since it’s free and you’ll end up with the best shoe for how you run. Enjoy yourupcoming weekend! I’m thinking of going with just my mom next year, and maybe one kid. I love that city and that marathon. Soak it all in without the pressure of having to perform.
