Everything You Didn’t See From the Weekend

What you didn’t see from this past weekend at the Big Sur International Marathon in as few words as possible.

My traveling companions.

IMG_0070

I was not the only one who went to get coffee in my pajamas. I had a partner.

IMG_0074

I finally got some travel planning right and figured out the bus schedule for us to get around town. We were all pretty pumped about the cheap bus ride from Carmel to Monterey.

IMG_0082

I was also not alone at the expo.

IMG_0084

This lady Pam is simply the best. It’s funny how many races we’ve run together on both sides of the country.

IMG_0086

The man Rudy who announces all the Disney races and the Big Sur marathon is one of the nicest people ever.

IMG_0095

The boys love him too.

IMG_0096

I was super excited when I saw a Mizuno booth at the expo.

IMG_0097

Heck yes I begged for that darn hat.

IMG_0101

I wasn’t the only one begging for these awesome Food Should Taste Good chips though.

IMG_0103

Gosh darn they are good.

Speaking of “good”, STUFT Daddy found his perfect magnet.

IMG_0105

I mean, that’s just awesome right?

We found birds.

IMG_0117IMG_0118

We also found a $20 an hour bike.

IMG_0132

The candy store was a big stop for us and I resisted buying these.

IMG_0135

But I stocked up on salt water taffy and couldn’t resist trying out just one of these.

IMG_0136

It actually wasn’t too bad.

Pre race dinner was at La Bicyclette in Carmel.

IMG_0142IMG_0137IMG_0138IMG_0140

They had pizza for everyone and I was really impressed with their gluten free crust.

Post race my men were extra nice and found my favorite flower for me.

IMG_0210

Breakfast at Katy’s Place was extra delicious.

IMG_0212

Again, they had a little something for everyone.

IMG_0213IMG_0214

Unlike The Boston Marathon, the race day was beautiful so we got a few minutes at the beach afterwards.

IMG_0220IMG_0218

Joaquin spotted the sock money kite. I attempted a picture and now need to find out where to buy one.

IMG_0216

We were still smiling before we left the beach to walk up the hill.

IMG_0226

We were not smiling about 1/4 of the way up when I was already giving a piggy back ride to a certain someone who’s legs were too tired. Go figure.

Before we headed home we made sure to make time for three really important stops.

Scheid Vineyards

Oh and I bought these there.

IMG_0236

Sushi.

IMG_0244

And for some dessert.

IMG_0246

Gosh darn it that trip was quick, but amazing.

Back to some everyday life stuff tomorrow. Still just trying to settle back into the routine over here.

Where have you been lately and what was or were highlights?

Oh and what’s your favorite salt water taffy flavor? I just recently fell in love with taffy and need to know all the good flavors to try and/or where the best taffy is. Thanks so much in advance for your help.

I’ve had the choc covered bacon–so good! My favorite taffy is the peanut butter one. As you can see I’m all about candy lol.

No way I would have been able to turn down that chocolate jalapeno, but those chipotle almonds sound yummy!
Hmm, I’ve been to work, to the second job, and to the mall for prom shopping. Yeah, I’ll just keep traveling vicariously through you. Sound good? :)

I’ve always found the best salt water taffy to be by the sea (salty water, go figure…). But my boyfriend would argue the Minnesota state fair has the best ;) My faves are raspberry and chocolate.

So glad to see you and the STUFTmen enjoyed the weekend! I’ve been following your blog for a while and just wanted to say that I’m so proud of you recently for persevering. You are an amazing woman! Let’s both keep running happy :)
