Aren’t gift cards the best ever to win? I always hold on to them and try to save them for a special occasion. Does anyone else do that?

Speaking of Road Runner Sports, I had to drive through random thunder and lightening storms on Saturday to pick up the boys’ racing shirts and numbers. It was really weird not picking up a race packet or anything for myself.

We also spent the morning fishing in the rain on Saturday. I tried to get out of it and told tem it would be much better if it was a boys’ trip, but Judah wanted me to come along. At least I got to try the new cold brew Starbucks coffee on the way. It’s good stuff.

Fishing was good too. We didn’t catch anything, but it was nice and quite out there and my brother is a gem for taking us all.

My runs have been a bit sporadic. I haven’t been keeping track, but am starting to again this week. I have 12 weeks until my next marathon so it’s about time I start recording my workouts. I really need to work on my pace. Ha ha.

I did get a couple good hilly runs it outside though. One was a 12 miler and the other was an 8.

I had to double up on the Halo action.

I’m still trying to figure out that whole running index number thing. One of these days I’ll take the time to do some research.

My other run was a half mile with the boys at the Bolt to the Q Sunday.

It was toasty out there. The entire drive down there Joaquin kept telling us he was going to win. I got a little nervous because he was really stuck on the fact that he was going to win and I didn’t want him to be disappointed or anything.

We got there just in time for the 9:30 am start all geared up in our Pro Compression socks.

2015-07-19 09.30.242015-07-19 09.33.05

It was a super short half mile form the parking lot to the stadium 50 yard line. The boys were digging the Charger Girls with their red lips. Judah noticed that all their lips were really red. Funny.

The boys meant business and Joaquin was all about using his “turbo speed” to win this thing. Luckily they did a different start for each age group, so he held his own out there in front for a good 1/4 of a mile.

2015-07-19 09.34.11

Like usual Judah kept me company in the back.

We finally caught up with Joaquin and he told us that he lost his turbo speed.

I sure know the feeling. They were champs though and finished strong.

They even got a high five from Jason Verrett at the finish.

I thought my Run With Perseverance tank top was appropriate for the event. Ha.

Man I gotta see if I can find the new kid Mizuno Wave Riders for the boys. He he.

It was a darn good morning.

2015-07-19 10.05.29

The rest of the day was pretty spectacular too.

We found out that all three of us can fit on the hammock.

2015-07-19 14.50.38

And we went all out to celebrate National Ice Cream Day. Did you celebrate? We tried to see if any place was giving out free ice cream, but we came up short. I did my best to go all out at home with this protein ice cream.

2015-07-16 13.59.25

Mmmm hmm.

I guess I should tell you that I celebrate ice cream day pretty much every day over the summer with some kind of protein ice cream. A little celebrating every day is good for the soul. Ha.

This one was all out with a brown rice tortilla (Trader Joe’s has the best) cinnamon crisp bowl with NuttZo at the bottom and then Silk protein ice cream made with Quest vanilla milkshake protein powder and a cut up peanut butter Fit Crunch bar mixed in. Holy smokes. I had some brown rice cakes on the side just for fun too.

And now, it’s time to hit up the treadmill. I have a plan to try to get 6 miles at a faster pace in. I’m a little nervous. Why the heck does picking up the pace make me scared?

Anyhoo……

Have a wonderful day!

Here are two thoughts for your Tuesday.

The first one is from my journal.

I didn’t win?! ugh! and it’s already been a year? This is the race (last year) where the boys were afraid of the cheerleaders, right? =)

YES! The cheerleaders weren’t around at the end this time. The boys were looking for them. Ha ha. Time goes WAY too fast. And by the way, you are ROCKING your training sir.

They do NOT have Kid’s Pro? Do they? OH MAN!

Fun!!!! I don’t know why but I have to ask….I know you are a wine girl but you are certainly a coffee girl too…have you tried any coffee beers? Some local breweries around MN have some VERY tasty ones ….just curious. ;-)

I haven’t, but now I really want to Kathy. Ha. I should hunt around. I tried a peanut butter beer once and it was a little confusing for me. Too sweet and thick to enjoy with food. Well, I guess I could have had it with ice cream or something. Ha.

Hope your treadmill speedwork went well. I always get a little nervous on the TM doing intervals or progressives (like yesterday). It’s a balance/injury thing. It will make you faster and stronger.

I love that you get your boys involved with your running. How fun! And the fishing trip looked like it was a great time as well. Thanks for sharing!

Here’s what I found on the Polar website: “If you’re looking to keep on top of your running performance you’ll find this feature a big help. Regular use over time allows you to see how efficient your running is. Your Running Index score is calculated automatically after every run, based on your heart rate and from the speed data collected from your GPS or stride sensor. A higher reading indicates that you can run faster with less effort. In V800, this feature can also recognize if you’re running uphill or downhill” Sounds pretty cool.
