We’re Making Some Progress and Won the Raptor Climb

Slowly, but surely we’re making some progress friends in the whole kindergarten transition phase. Phew.

I was understandably nervous about going into this week, but although it was one of the busiest weeks of my life, it went a lot better than the first one.

I got another long run in last weekend and it was the first time ever I finished 20 miles before 10:00 am.

Not a shabby view though right?

Besides that long run last weekend, all my workouts this week were shorter and I swear they felt like they were getting earlier and earlier, but they got done. Not the best quality or the fastest, but they were there. A huge thanks to the new Netflix videos I just got- The Mindy Project Season 3. Um, seriously, that show is hilarious and makes the treadmill runs go by so much faster.

Besides my early morning treadmill running I taught one HIIT class on Monday, but took advantage of the long hallway for some weighted walking lunges and did a couple machines in the weight room also.

I managed a short 4 miler at night. I had run 7 miles earlier and just needed a little time to unwind. That was the most I ran in a day all week, but it was so nice to just get out there without distraction after a super long work day. It’s such darn good therapy.

I’ve been into snacking this past week. I really have no idea what that’s been about, but guacamole and humus and carrots and rice cakes helped make it through the week.

I love my job. I’m so darn lucky to have it, but am still learning I need to let go of other things now that I do actually have a full time job. It’s all a life lesson isn’t it? Ha.

On a normal morning, this is my view.

In other random working news, I switched out my desk chair for a stability ball. I’m still not sure how I feel about it, but the 10 minutes a day I actually get to sit I’m sitting in it.

I can usually pull off regular workout wear on a daily basis for work, but I had to try to put myself together the other night.

The key word there being “try”. Ha.

We were all smiles at the end of the day today when we were on our way home. Love, love, love that.

I’m realizing though that there isn’t much time left to try to keep up the whole blogging thing. I’d rather sleep and recover from the day. I can only imagine it gets worse when the boys have more than just the 20 minutes a night reading and practicing sight words and writing their name.

Oh, but I almost forgot to tell you about our big adventure last weekend. We went to LEGOLAND California last Sunday to celebrate a successful first week of school. (This week we’re going to see the Minion movie.)

The boys made me ride the darn scariest roller coaster there. I screamed my head off and Grandma said everyone was laughing at me. Lovely. At least I wore the right Run With Perseverance tank. Ha.

Yeah, that’s right.

Joaquin loves games and seriously has a knack for winning pretty much every single time. He won a minion right off that bat.

2015-08-30 12.06.04

We toured the new Heartlake City.

2015-08-30 12.46.21

I think it’s more of a girl thing, but the boys found one little girl they were quite fond of. Ha.

And then we found ourselves at the Raptor Climb. We had tried it before, but all of us failed miserably. For some reason last Sunday though it was different.

Slow and steady and keeping low to the ladder was key. Judah climbed right up like no one’s business and won this ginormous bear. He names it Luke just in case you’re wondering.

I was so darn excited for him because he really needed it after the rough week he had.

Well, then I decided I needed to try it. It wasn’t quite as easy for me, but there was no way I was letting go or falling off that darn thing. I was so shaky, but somehow I made it to the top to ring the bell. heck yes!

2015-08-30 13.15.41

I let Joaquin pick out my animal and he picked the frog who is know known as Frogadear.

We thought we were really cool until we had to carry our new friends around the rest of the day. Thank goodness Grandma was with us. It was a darn good time.

2015-08-30 16.27.20

And this past week had been a darn good week.

I haven’t been on my computer once until tonight. But we’ve been trying to get in the habit of our daily reading.

Joaquin thinks it requires a special fort. I have other ideas, but whatever it takes to get into the routine, right?

2015-09-01 17.06.18

This is our favorite night time read at the moment.

(I can’t believe we were in Kauai last year for the Kauai Marathon at this time. We were supposed to be there again, but life has gone a whole new direction lately. Funny how that works, right? We’ll be back though when the time is right. For now I’ll just read the recap a million times over the weekend. Ha ha.)

Did you run at Lake Miramar? I run there multiple times a week and thought I saw you! If you want, I would love to meet up to run with you. I’m a bit slower, but am training for my first marathon and would love to chat/run!

Only a strong and determined person like you could make it up that ladder! Bet the boys loved seeing you conquer that thing.

I know The Kissing Hand book well. We all read it a lot to K when he struggled with pre-school. Hope this next week is easier on J.

Happy you made it through week 1! Bet you’re beyond happy that it’s a 3-day weekend! 🙂

I am working 4-days a week now at a preschool….my kids are older but still I feel b.u.s.i.e.r.!! I cannot imagine keeping it all together with the twins, teaching and your exercise/Y stuff.

Nice animals btw!!! I am sure Big Stuft Daddy was excited to see the animals come into the house too…at least he doesn’t have to feed them right?

I know it’s crazy, but it is good crazy! I remember that time it my life. Trying to juggle work, family, home and time for yourself. There is no perfect formula to make it work, it’s just an ongoing adventure that you will always remember and cherish!❤️

It’s really a never ending chore trying to balance work and family. I am a singe mom of two and work full-time. My job keeps me busy and my girls keep me busier, but I wouldn’t have it any other way!

The Kissing Hand helped us through a lot of rough patches.
I think I started getting more blogging time around 2nd grade… I think that’s when a quiet kid started to mean “playing with toys in her room” rather than “time to panic!”.

that early run looks so peaceful and therapeutic… i need to start getting my behind out of bed early to make the most of the day!!
