Recovery Week, Race Discounts and a Love Grown Foods Bats and Boos GIVEAWAY

Well hello. Hope you all had a fabulous week. Things have been good here, although I’ve been having trouble sleeping all week which is a huge bummer because I’m so stinking tired. Isn’t that so annoying when all you want to do is sleep, but you can’t and you just lay there in bed?

Oh well. Things could be a lot worse, so no complaining. I’ve been doing the early morning wake up still, but only to do some light cross training and to keep on the same schedule. It’s been nice just going with the flow this week.

I’ve had this breakfast a couple times and it’s fabulous. I have some egg whites on the side, but this is a Trader Joe’s Chicken Chardonnay Apple Sausage with goat cheese cream cheese and spicy jalapeño peach jam in a BFree Foods gluten free flax wrap pressed in the sandwich maker.

2015-10-12 07.25.21

I taught my class Monday night and my recovery status according to Polar Paul didn’t really like that too much.

2015-10-12 19.02.52

I really love this tool on the V800 by the way about recovery. I am now back to “balanced” after a week of easy workouts. It’s the new me. Ha ha.

Yes, I totally had to convince myself to rest, but holy cow it’s so worth it. I just found other things to keep me busy like pumpkin picking with the family.

2015-10-13 15.33.112015-10-13 15.37.14

It’s kind of a big deal for us.

2015-10-13 15.58.412015-10-13 16.02.352015-10-13 16.02.51

That particular goat ripped my shirt. We’re still friends though. He was just hungry and I get that way too. Ha ha.

Even though it was a rest week, I enjoyed quite a few helpings of my protein ice cream.

2015-10-13 17.25.14

Oh and Joaquin made some pretty cool art projects at school. This is a cat hammock for the cats complete with a pillow and everything.

2015-10-14 06.59.13

We haven’t quite tested it out yet, but I’m sure it will work brilliantly. His other creation was this drawing of a “butt massager with thorns on it”.

2015-10-15 15.37.35

We haven’t tested anything like that out wither, but not quite sure I ever want to. Where do they get these ideas?

This is totally random, but if you haven’t tried Downy Wrinkle Release yet, you really need to. I can’t remember the last time I touched an iron, but we use this stuff on a regular basis. The other day it was on Judah’s shirt and it worked like a charm.

2015-10-15 07.07.34

I was really looking forward to sleeping in this morning as it would have been my only chance to all week.

It’s so silly that I actually thought it would happen. It didn’t obviously and at 5:30 am Judah and I were up baking banana bread for everyone.

2015-10-17 05.48.36

At least we were still in pajamas and I had coffee. Joaquin joined us shortly as did the giant Peanuts Valentine’s gang.

2015-10-17 06.27.31

The bread turned out really good though this time.

2015-10-17 06.52.35

We used the recipe for STUFT Silk Superhero Muffins, but didn’t add the spinach and used regular all purpose flour instead of whole wheat.

Here is the perfect piece.

2015-10-17 07.16.59

It was actually made more perfect with a huge glob of NuttZo, but what isn’t right?

Okay, so besides eating and attempting to sleep all week, I did decide that in this down time in between marathon training I’m going to really focus on strength. I’ve lost a little since I’m not teaching as many classes as I used to. I never had to do strength on my own because I taught so many classes it just happened. It’s different now and I need to make a schedule for myself and a conscious effort to find the time a couple times a week.

I did some light upper body work earlier in the week and yesterday it was some core work. (Russian Twists, laying toe touches, bridge/V-ups, shoulder to opposite knee, etc.).

2015-10-16 06.05.02

I got outside for the first time this week later this morning for a short little run therapy session.

2015-10-17 09.28.49 HDR2015-10-17 09.28.56

I paid no attention to time or anything, but just took in the alone time and fresh air. It was fabulous.

Now I know I can’t be the only one who does this, but I always find myself signing up for more races the week right after a marathon. This week was no different.

Oh and I got suckered into buying this month’s Pro Compression Sock of the Month too.

Enter code OCT at checkout for 40% off and free shipping. It’s a cute one, isn’t it?

The races though…….

On Monday I got the email that I was randomly chosen for the Boston 2 Big Sur Challenge for 2016. I am sooooooo excited! I’m even more excited because I’m running the Big Sur Marathon for Team For Life Lazarex Cancer Research.

I still have $1000 to raise, but thankfully I have a lot of time to get on that. Feel free to visit my fundraising page anytime though. Smile

Besides those two races (Boston Marathon and Big Sur Marathon), I added a few other possibilities to the schedule.

The first one is one I’ve been wanting to do for years, but have never done it. It’s part of the Beach Cities Challenge with the OC Marathon and the Long Beach Marathon. Since I just completed the other two I thought I should finish the challenge. Why not, right?

It’s the Surf City Marathon on February 7, 2016.

They have a half marathon and a full marathon and I’ve heard so many great things about this race.

Here’s a discount code for 10% off registration if you want to come run the beach with me.

Who’s in?

I never got to run The Phoenix Marathon either last year since I was injured, but in my head I’ll really be running it side by side these two (EMZ and Christina) some day. It might just be a dream and not happen until like 5 years from now, but this picture makes me laugh every single time.

2015-10-11 15.09.20

That code is good for either the half marathon or the full marathon in 2016 too!

STUFT10 for 10% off. The race is February 27, 2016.

You can register here.

Okay, as promised, here’s a GIVEAWAY. Wait, first, here’s this weekend’s Quest Bar s’mores chocolate chunks and a chicken.

2015-10-16 17.46.17

Ha ha ha. I crack myself up.

So, Love Grown Foods just came out with this limited edition Bats & Boos cereal. It’s the same as their magnificent Power O’s that we go through way too fast, but even better because it’s bats and ghosts instead of O’s.

2015-10-14 16.10.022015-10-14 16.10.27

Disclaimer- the one box of this cereal we got in our monthly LOVE shipment is already gone and a new box of chocolate Power O’s has been opened. Yes, we love them that much.

These special edition ones even have a fun maze on the back and a little background story.

2015-10-14 16.11.18

The boys ate their multiple bowls of the cereal just with milk. I opted to have mine with red velvet flavored protein ice cream while sitting on the family room floor.

2015-10-14 16.31.30

You can eat yours however you want though.

We’re giving away a box of this super fun and healthy cereal. You have to act quickly though because the giveaway is only open for a couple days.

Winner will receive a box of this limited Halloween Edition Bats & Boos cereal.

All you have to do to enter is leave me a comment here with your favorite way to eat cereal (with milk, on ice cream, out of the box, etc.).

Feel free to follow Love Grown Foods on instagram here:

for an additional entry. Just come back and leave an additional comment that you follow them.

Yay yay yay!

Giveaway open to US residents only. Open until Monday, October 19th at 11:59pm.
