Well hello there. This week flew by. I’m really not even sure what happened. Ha ha.
Workouts were minimal ones in the early hours this past week. I took full advantage my new balanced state and of not having to follow a plan or get ready for any kind of a race at the moment.
I ran on the treadmill a little everyday except for today. Each run was about 6 miles.
I’m still really, really loving the new Wave Inspire 12s too. They seem to have a smoother ride and a bit more cushion and I’m all about that.
I made sure to get in three solid days of strength/resistance work in. That’s my new plan. One night a week hitting up the weights and the machines at the gym and a couple days doing a workout on my own at home. When I’m at the gym, lunges always come first. Ha ha.
Speaking of strength, I’m still loving the Ab Carver. You really only need a few minutes with that thing. Here’s my new variation I came up with by putting my knees on the BOSU ball.
You can click on the link or the picture to see the short video.
Oh and speaking of only needing a few minutes with something, well, Jacob’s Ladder is another gem that gets the job done quick. Here’s another short video of a sweaty tush in action on that thing. Ha.
I did have one night where I got a chance to get out for a run. I made it about 2 1/2 miles, but it was all I needed.
My next marathon is in January, but II ‘m not sure if I want to focus on that one or on the Surf City Marathon that’s February 7th. I’m super excited about that one. So I might hold off and start a 12 week training plan for that race. We’ll see. I have tonight to figure out if I start my 12 weeks tomorrow morning or in a couple more weeks. Ha.
Surf City though. I keep hearing how awesome it is. Here’s a discount of you want to come run on the beach with me.
Surf City Marathon on February 7, 2016.
They have a half marathon and a full marathon. Here’s a discount code for 10% off registration;.
Oh and before I move on, I have a couple videos over on the Vega website with super easy 1 minute workouts you can do at home. The boys even help out. They’re fun ones and entertaining because they boys are always up to something. If you have a couple minutes to work out, check it out here. No equipment needed!
On the home front the boys and work have been keeping me more than busy. We’ve been getting our fair share of family walks in though. This was from last Sunday. This guy takes the whole walking thing very seriously.
It might have something to do with the new shoes. He’s so pumped about his Wave Rider Junior shoes from Mizuno.
Understandably so. I get like that too over any Mizuno running shoes. Heck yes we think we’re cool.
Especially because we even did some night walking with these awesome Night Runner 270 shoe lights.
They just clip right on your laces. They can go brighter or flash. They’re freaking awesome. I got them sent to me to test out, but they’re way cooler than I thought they’d be and they do help you see at night. Here’s the website- Night Runner 270.
It’s still darn hot here, but I can’t wait for it to cool down so I can wear these.
In the kitchen this week. I randomly threw together an easy no grain microwave muffin. I followed the recipe for the Easiest, No Grain Muffin Ever, but added a 1/2 scoop of Vega tropical protein and greens to the mix.
It was the perfect little protein snack muffin.
My one dinner I actually cooked this week was Lazy Mama Lasagna that turned out to be a big hit.
I love that it’s super easy and that there’s always leftovers.
I had a lot of salads. I bought a few too many bags of butter lettuce from Trader Joe’s so had to put it to good use.
I usually have a salad everyday for lunch too. This particular salad had the chicken fall all over the floor before I got to put everything else on there. I confess that I picked that chicken up, wiped it off and still ate it. Yes, yes I did.
Friday night looked a little something like this.
There was protein ice cream and an episode of Modern Family and some quite family time involved also. No, I didn’t mix all these together, but with the protein ice cream and a baked Quest bar it was just perfection.
We made these Trader Joe’s pumpkin rolls this morning and were pretty impressed.
They’re definitely worth a try at least once this fall.
Okay it’s time to work on my grades that are due tomorrow so I better get a move on, but here are a few last random things to leave you with for your week. That deep thoughts are at the end.
This guy’s new dress up gig is half college student, half Ninja Turtle. I don’t ask questions.
I finally got my hair done yesterday after a few too many weeks of trying to extend it out. Oh how nice it is to leave the salon. My girl Casey Rae is amazing by the way. If you’re local and want her info, email me. She is the best!
She even talked me into staying an extra 10 minutes so she could curl my hair. I don’t think it’d been curled since our wedding. Ha.
This was one of my morning views this past week.
I have to say though it made me so happy. I was watching this show about this rich guy trying to make his dream life and I thought to myself that I really am living my dream life right now. Sure we live in a small house with all hand me down furniture, but I have two healthy, amazing boys, an incredible husband, a full time job where I get to see my boys at the beginning and end of every day, a passion for running and finally being able to run injury free, the best family ever and some pretty darn cool hairless cats and other animals.
It’s all about being content with what you have and realizing that you might just be living your dreams right now. WE can make every single day our dream day, right?
I’m not sure how much longer I’ll be able to keep up this blogging business. It seems like I have less and less time each day. But for now, we’re making it all work and these guys are still getting Mama’s number one attention.
In fact, I was supposed to run Rock ‘n’ Roll Los Angeles Half Marathon this morning. It didn’t happen because logistically it was too difficult to find someone to watch the boys and get up there, etc. I decided it just wasn’t worth it and instead I needed to just breathe and stay home (and do laundry). So instead of lining up at the start line, I sat and watched the sunrise with my boy.
Is three pictures enough? I guess so.
And I just have to say that I’ve admittedly been making the same wish on dandelions for years now. I know I could step it up a notch to really make it happen and you’d think I’d give up and move on and try to find a different wish, but no. I’m still wishing it and I KNOW some day it will come true.
And when it does it will be glorious.
And I hope this guy keeps making his same wish too until it comes true for him.
Never give up friends. You can never wish the same wish too many times. Sometimes the time just isn’t right or you just really have to be patient.
Have a fabulous week!
