Things That Just Rock Right Now

Things That Just Rock Right Now

There are quite a few, but for the interest of time for all of us I’ll just hit up the really good things at the moment.

I wrote up my own training plan for the Surf City Marathon. It’s 11 weeks away so that gives me some time to build up strength and speed. Yesterday I had some speedwork to do. I tried to talk myself out of it, but then had to tell myself that I’m not going to get faster if I don’t put in the work. Silly me.

The run was 15 minute warm up followed by 3 sets of 6 minutes at a 6:54 pace. I jogged slowly for 3 minutes in between and then stayed on the treadmill for about 20 more minutes for the cool down.

It’s always not that bad once it’s done. Ha ha. It was tough on tired legs from the classes I taught Monday so I actually did a little rolling afterwards. First time I’ve done that in probably a year.

Lovely shot.

This is the breakfast I’ve had for the past two mornings.

2015-11-23 10.55.55

Oh heck yes. AN entire bag of Trader Joe’s riced cauliflower with a cup of egg whites and an organic beef hot dog with truffle salt and nutritional yeast. It’s so darn good. It’s like a breakfast form of healthy, dairy free mac and cheese. Mmmm hmm…

I get excited to make breakfast when I’m on vacation since I never have time on workdays.

The boys have has these STUFT Silk Superhero Muffins the past few days.

We seriously go through these so fast every time we make a batch. They are so good.

I love subbing classes at the gym when I’m off. I get way too excited to go teach other people’s classes and try to make it harder than usual. Ha ha. The favorite move from my chiseled class Monday was the v-sit.

The boys always like to “help” me put away equipment. They think they’re cool in the big workout room. Then they have to show me how strong they are. Pretty impressive, huh?

I subbed again today and started class with this move (click to see the video).

We braved both Trader Joe’s and Costco today which was not the smartest thing to do the day before Thanksgiving, but we made it out with our salad supplies (this super easy salad) and this pumpkin pie before 10:30 am.

By the way, please tell me you’ve had the Costco pumpkin pie. It’s just delightful and I’m not even a pumpkin pie person.

Vega just came out with a new formula for their Vega Sport Performance Protein. I didn’t know what to expect, but holy moly it is amazing.

2015-11-23 14.41.03

They added some new ingredients to help performance and upped the protein a bit. They’re so much goodness going on I can’t even start. But, that’s okay because I’ll save it for another post which will include a little GIVEAWAY for you. Oh heck yes. This HAS to be shared.

This shirt is the bomb.

Do you know what kind of bird that is?

I’ve been trying to get more greens in lately. There have been too many days as of late where I’ve been skipping out on the healthy stuff and going to too much Love Grown Foods Power O’s. Yes, they are amazing and healthy too, but not when I’m eating five servings of that instead of a healthy meal.

So, ginormous salads are back.

Mmmm hmm…

So are roasted kabocha and roasted purple sweet potatoes.

2015-11-24 12.45.26

It’s just not as pretty before I roast it.

Another daily occurrence here is Silk almondmilk. My fridge currently looks like this. Again, thanks to Costco.

2015-11-24 13.17.18

I have a fear of running out and I drink about 2 cups of the stuff a day. Yes, this is really what the fridge looks like right now.

2015-11-24 13.17.25

Since I don’t drink regular milk I’m obsessed with this Silk almondmilk. There are so many great things about it and it’s one of the few brands that doesn’t have carrageen.

2015-11-24 13.17.39

I always buy the unsweetened version so I can add whatever sweetener I want. A full cup of it is only 30 calories. I use it for pretty much everything. I made those muffins with it and use it as tea and coffee creamer.

My favorite thing to make is protein ice cream though. There is always a batch of frozen Silk almondmilk cubes in the freezer for when the crazing hits (which his daily).

I just can’t help it.

I want to come up with a really fun healthy holiday drink recipe with almondmilk. I better get on that as the holidays are here.

Speaking of, the year is slowly coming to an end and as slow as my progress might be towards balance and figuring out my priorities at the moment, I’m getting there. I think it’s going to be a continuous life journey, but sometimes the actual journey is the reward. Right?

I saw this the other day from Lysa Terkeurst on instagram and love the message.

2015-11-23 22.32.01

I don’t need to talk about how to live or balance things out or be a better mom, I need to LIVE it. Live it each and every day. This is such a great reminder, isn’t it?

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving tomorrow. I hope it’s filled with laughter. love, smiles, hugs and lots of good food.

It’s got to be an EMU right? Because they run super fast and the bird does have running shoes on…..Anyway I learned that from watching the Kratt (spelling?) Brothers on PBS when my kids were younger. ha!

We love that milk too, with 4 kids and 2 adults, it’s crazy how fast we go through it! Happy Thanksgiving STUFT family 🙂

I would be lost without my foam roller. My legs would hate me if I neglected it for sure.
I haven’t tried purple sweet potatoes yet but I have my eye out for them.
