We’re wrapping things up. Not presents, although that’s really what I SHOULD be doing right now. Ha.
The holidays can always get so busy and overwhelming and I really don’t want that to be the case this year, so I may be wrapping other things in life up a bit early.
Yesterday was my last race of the year. I was a sucker and paid $20 for a couple downloads.
Sorry. I paid for them so had to show someone. Ha ha.
Actually, I may not be correct in that yesterday was my last race. The boys and I are planning to go to the Hot Buttered Run next Sunday. They have a 10K, kid’s races, hot chocolate, hot buttered rum (for 21 and up obviously) and lots of other fun happenings.
If you want to check it out you can get $5 any of the races with code STUFTFITNESS. Here’s the website:
We’re pretty excited to dress up and I need to be able to wear these awesome Pro Compression ugly sweater socks somewhere fun.
I ran way less this past week than I had planned, but that’s okay.
I’m still trying to figure out the whole how to really follow a plan thing. Maybe one of these days I’ll get the hang of it.
I did get in a couple strength sessions at the gym in. Both were after I taught classes.
I put a little video on instagram, but lately I’ve been loving this rope pull. I do it for 10 minutes and that’s about all I need.
My go to lunch lately has been chicken with roasted spaghetti squash and a salad. I’m super bummed that Trader Joe’s hasn’t had butter lettuce for a really long time and a heard a rumor that it’s not coming back. That just chaps my hide.
Snacks have been simple since there just isn’t enough time. Rice cakes with guacamole always does the trick.
These Strong and KIND bars are so easy on the run too.
Oh and I recently just discovered Lenny and Larry’s complete cookies. Um, YUM.
Warm a chocolate chip one up in the microwave for about 15 seconds and it’s just heavenly.
It’s been a little too chilly here the past couple of days so I’ve ditched the protein ice cream thing and just been doing different variations of SIlk almondmilk and Vega protein smoothies. Lately it’s been just those two things mixed and chugged in the car on the way to work.
The other night I thought I’d see if these two would be good warmed up a bit. I needed something warm and comforting in a mug.
That’s exactly what I got.
Then I microwaved it for 3 minutes and mixed it up again. Once it was in a ginormous Christmas mug it was ready to go.
I wasn’t sure it would turn out that well, but it did and it was delicious. Even Harvey approved.
Today I took the the Vega protein ice cream and made it a float with diet Cherry Dr. Pepper.
That was so darn good. I mean, sooooooo good.
I’ll be revisiting that again soon.
In other random family news, my dad had a birthday. The school pictures came just in time.
Joaquin drew this for him.
I’m sure you can tell, but it’s Papap fixing our sink complete with a fancy kind of wrench. Isn’t it the best?
The best for the best.
Back in July I wrote about focusing more on balancing life and being the best mom I could be. I feel like I’m still slowly working towards that, but still have lots to do to get to where I need to be. It’s tough to take care of yourself and take care of others too.
The boys need me around more. I need to be better at planning healthy family meals and not throwing Trader Joe’s frozen dinners in at the last minute (although they have some pretty awesome options). It’s time to keep making changes.
I’ve been making a point to get off my phone and read this awesome devotional before bed.
It really helps my slow things down mentally and focus on the true gift of Christmas that’s happening right now. Life doesn’t slow down, but you can. You just have to make the time to do it because it won’t be given to you.
My friend Robin posted this quote on instagram the other day and I love it.
Isn’t it awesome? I think it’s a life long project. Just take small steps every day to be a better version of yourself. That’s what I’m working on over here.
Have a wonderful week!
