Happy Monday! It’s a new week so I better recap what went down last week before this one runs me over just like last week did. Ha ha ha.
After two weeks of not running, I eased back into my usual running routine this past week with the early morning treadmill time. I still gave myself an extra 20 minutes to sleep in and kept everything short and sweet.
I did a few short runs (3-5 miles) which were just enough to watch a couple great movies.
4 Minute Mile-brilliant
Someone asked on Instagram if Netflix still sends out DVDs. Yes, yes they do and they save me because that’s the only thing I can watch on that darn old TV. Ha ha.
I did get a couple runs outside in. One was Friday evening to catch the boys and Andrew playing ball.
The other one was Saturday after I taught a class at the gym. I randomly took a new route because I knew if I came home first I wouldn’t want to go out for a run so I figured I better run while I was out so I could get to other things once I got home.
I looked for our dream home and happen to find a new cool path. I love it when that happens.
The class I taught Saturday was called Extreme FIT so I had to come up with all the hard moves to try to impress them. I whipped out the Gliding Discs for some reverse lunges, side lunges, sliding push ups and mountain climbers. (You can use paper plates on a hard surface too and they work just like the discs.)
I always have to do just a couple minutes on the TRX if no one is using it if I’m at the gym and it’s a day when I’m doing some resistance training. I’m pretty boring and I just do the same two moves every time- chest press and rows (pictured).
My goal is to get a little more creative over the summer and come up with an entire workout to do with TRX, but right now I just don’t have the time. The countdown until summer is ON though.
I did something I’ve never done before this past week. I did a 3 day cleanse. I’ve always thought about doing one, but then never really followed through or anything.
I’ll have a recap on my next post because I can’t believe I actually made it and I did some modifications the last day just because I needed a little more fuel/energy.
The cleanse I did was the Chef V one. Here’s everything that came in the kit.
They offered to send me the kit to review and I knew I had to start as soon as possibly before I changed my mind or started my new marathon training plan (which starts today by the way). Ha.
The code STUFT will get you 55% off ANY cleanse (I don’t know how anyone can go longer than 3 days though. Ha.) The website with all the information is here. That’s a pretty cool discount and I do have to say that after only 3 days of sticking to that cleanse I feel darn good. It was just the kick in the pants I needed to get back on track.
I’m obsessed with a healthy homemade chocolate sauce (or shell actually because I cool it until it gets hard and eat it). Besides my cleanse days I’ve been eating this every day. I LOVE dark chocolate. I love all sweets actually, but really, really love dark chocolate. Since I’m working on cleaning up my nutrition around here a bit I came up with this amazing homemade dark chocolate. All you need is two ingredients.
Healthy 2 Ingredient Dark Chocolate
1/2 T of coconut oil (7 grams)
2 T cocoa powder (10 grams) – my favorite is Hershey’s dark cocoa powder
(macros for one serving: calories 80, fat 8g, carbs 6g, protein 1g)
Melt the coconut oil if it’s solid. Mix in the cocoa powder until it’s a smooth sauce. Pour it on wax paper or on top of an apple or in the middle of a homemade cinnamon crisp brown rice tortilla bowl (like a magic shell ice cream bowl) or even a rice cake or pretzels. Really the opportunities are endless.
Put in in the freezer of fridge until it hardens. Or you can skip a couple steps and just use it as a warm chocolate sauce. Do whatever you want to do. You won’t be sorry.
It is THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!
I’ve been eating it like this lately.
I put it on a cold Jazz or Fuji apple with NuttZo crunchy Powerfuel and cinnamon and then chill it until the chocolate hardens.
I’ve had it just a few times.
I’ve even shown up to work with chocolate remnants still on my mouth. Lovely.
You can easily double the recipe or add sweetener of choice if you prefer. I don’t add any to mine, but I like the darker, less sweet chocolate.
I’m nervous about my new training plan that starts today. It’s not what I expected it was going to be for the first few weeks, but we’re starting off with low mileage and just easy effort runs. We’re focusing on The TCS New York City Marathon that’s in November so we have lots of time. Thank goodness because I have a long way to go. Ha.
I’ll give an update and share more of the plan later this week.
just in case you missed these that were posted on Instagram.
That was me about 8 months pregnant with the boys. I still think about how that was the best I felt in my life. Yes, even that big. Isn’t that weird? I think it was because I really listened to my body and took the best care of myself and my two little ones that I could. I’m working on that now, it’s just a lot different.
Judah came home with a “love gun” for me the other day.
How sweet is that?
I’m going to keep that thing right by my bed.
And friends, that’s a wrap.
Have a wonderful week!
Running and racing news and the cleanse recap will be coming shortly.
Dream big! Everything begins with a dream!
