What We’ve Been Doing and a Running Update

Happy Monday! And oh my goodness happy August too! Holy smokes where is the summer going?

July started as a bit of a bust for us. Andrew’s knee, my hip, my toe, a fire super close to our house, etc. so I’m pretty excited to start with a new month today. I’m NOT excited about returning to work relatively soon, but that’s life.

So…… I thought since it’s been awhile I’d share a little of where we’ve been and where we’re at right now in all aspects of life. The past weekend I was at a fitness training all day Saturday and Sunday for Les Mills CXWORX.

It’s totally different from what I’m used to teaching because it’s scripted and you have to give certain cues at certain times. I’m so used to giving my own cues and talking a lot throughout class.

2016-07-24 12.03.57

My challenge is to give the cues by saying less. Ha ha. Go figure. The training is intense though and there is a lot of presenting and having them evaluate you and video you, etc. It was a good character building experience and man the moves that they have and all the scientific reasons why they chose the specific functional core moves is incredible. I can’t wait to start teaching it. Everyone needs core work to support the spine and do everyday functional moves (like picking up groceries or swinging a golf club). I’ll share more in a fitness specific post later this week.

Around the house last week was busy with finally cleaning off the top bunk on Joaquin’s bed,

revisited and changing up the STUFT Seedy Bread recipe (coming later this week also),

finally buying a new little TV for the workout room after this old one officially bit the dust,

our first trip to Dog Beach,

and a trip to the arcade at Belmont Park (because the boys earned it with their reading charts).

The stand out night time snuggle and read book last week was this one.

The new morning Mommy read I just started yesterday is this one.

Thirty One Days of Prayer For the Dreamer and Doer.

Yesterday was our anniversary. Yup, the hubs and I have officially been married 12 years. Our big celebration was going out to dinner with my parents and a family bike ride. We go all out like that. Ha.

2016-07-31 18.04.45-1

Oh and I also made everyone watch our wedding video. It was fun for the boys and good to see some very important people that are no longer with us. I was in tears about 20 seconds into it.

In other running news I am now a REVO2LUTION RUNNING certified coach.

Woo hoo! I learned A LOT from my studying and in taking the test. So much so that right after I finished my test I wrote a heart to heart email to Coach Jason and admitted how poorly I have been following the training plan for NYC Marathon. Not by choice, but because the flair up with my hip and then the whole toe thing.

I asked him to rewrite the plan to start today and he made me sum up exactly the amount of miles I’ve been running each week this past month. Let me tell you it was hard to be honest and come clean. Here’s what my last couple weeks of mileage have looked like (with cross training and teaching classes mixed in):

7/11-7/17- 20 miles

7/18-7/24- 33 miles

7/25-8/31- 36 miles

We’re running out of time until NYC and the pressure is on and my main focus is to be consistent every single workout and every single week. He’s been so patient with me and pretty much tells me how it is.

My new plan has relatively low mileage to what I’m used to leading up to a marathon, but given the circumstances and what’s been going on we have to do things methodically. I’m not going to lie, I’m nervous. Let’s see though, his best words of advice to me yesterday in our many texts and emails back and forth were:

“There are 14 weeks until the NYC Marathon. You need to be consistent every week from now until then.”

“Refer to the certification manual on injury prevention.”

After telling him that this is hard on my mentally because I used to consider 50 mile weeks lower mileage weeks (you know, back in the year of the 37 mile treadmill run and my current marathon PR). “You can get back there, but it’s going to take time. You need an entire year or two with zero injuries and consistent training.”

“You need to focus on the training before you go to the starting line of another race. Were going to have to rush things.”

Hard words to hear, but someone has to tell me that stuff, right? I’ve got to stay focused!

Today calls for a 8 mile easy run, but I missed my window of being able to not do it in the heat so it probably won’t be easy. Ha ha. At least I’ll have my Gilmore Girls back on Netflix to hang out with.

Before I go, a little doTERRA combo I’ve been using lately is one that my sister-in-law introduced me to.

2016-07-26 13.48.19

I put a drop or two of each (Basil and Cheer) on the bottom of my left foot. That’s where your pours are the biggest and it can be absorbed well.

I also apply Serenity every single night on the bottom of my foot and diffuse it (until the hubby asks me to turn it off).

2016-07-23 20.51.13

Oh and that Deep Blue Rub is AMAZING on sore muscles. I really think everyone should have it. Ha ha.

At the current moment I’m sitting here in the office diffusing Lavender and Peppermint together.

2016-08-01 07.21.51

It’s my go-to combination for working in the office.

This leads me to pretty sweet promo for August.

2016-08-01 07.19.32

This is good for current or new customers and you get a FREE 15 ml bottle of Lemon, Lavender and Peppermint with any 160PV order in August. Gosh I love FREE stuff. He he.

Also, if you’re local we have some classes going on where you not only learn about essential oils and all the ways you can use them, but you get a free Elevation oil for attending.

2016-07-30 16.12.29

Here’s the link to register for any of the above classes. I’m doing the Athlete’s Class on the 30th so I’d love it if you signed up for that one (or any of the others since all of them are awesome).

As always, email me with any oil questions or if you’re interested in ordering or trying some out or just anything.

That’s a Monday morning wrap. Off to get this day, this week, this month started.

Dream big and believe friends. (Thank you Momentum Jewelry for letting me wear my reminders.)

I’ll be back soon with some Paleo friendly recipes for seedy bread and crackers. Heck yes I’ve been experimenting.

I have no doubt you will come back stronger. Don’t laugh, but I ran my first, and only, marathon on about 25-30 miles a week, lol. While I am NOWHERE near your speed, my body cannot handle tons of miles so I just went with it and hey, I finished, and had an okay time :) . Looking forward to the bread recipe. I am not Paleo at all, but I love to bake. Also, I missed my window of cool and now the hubs is at work so the treadmill it is for me today. Let’s hope I don’t roast and last at least an hour on that darn thing. HA! Lastly, are the oil classes only for new people? I am already enrolled in doterra, but would love to hear about these classes. Anyhow, happy Monday and August! I am ready to chase some goals this month while hopefully maintaining some balance at home. ;)

Hi! I’m Les Mills Body Pump, Cxworx and currently trying to get Combat certified. When you submit your video for certification, make sure your choreography and timing are 100percent correct, watch your video multiple times before sending it in. As of May 1, 2016, certification process has become ridiculously hard!! I had no prob passing Body Pump and Cxworx first time through several years ago. I failed my first Comabt submission in July!!! Ugh!!! I have to send in another one!!
